af speed wise not much diff from any existing zoom lens used on a850 and a900. except for 28-70G(the slowest minolta std zoom)cz24-70 never impressed me much also, at it asking price it only doing what it suppose to be doing just merely competing very well among the 24-70 equivalents among nikon and canon. reason i was not impressed was at the same time i had the olympus 12-60 and the sony r1 both possess lens which sharpness match or even exceeded the abv mentioned lenses.
it been a very long time since i had come across a lens which really impressed me.
fyi i have a cz 16-35 also, while it good, it also doesn't impress me as the sal28-75 f2.8 does.
Thanks! Very interesting results... very interesting indeed... I hope to see a CZ 24-70, Sigma 24-70 & SAL 28-75 shootout some time later... should make for very interesting reading... especially the Sigma lens versus the SAL...
I'm quite surprised at the corner results of the Zeiss... the tele end of the Zeiss is as significantly better than the SAL as the wide end of the SAL better than the Zeiss... tells you where they decided to optimise the optics perhaps?
Wow?! That's surprising... try Wisma then... I might make a trip down some day this month just to test this lens... and have a go at the CZ at the same time... and then perhaps test the Sigma as well...
I guess they don't want to sell anything then. I won't spend that kind of money if I can't check it out first.
and the funny thing is, in their display cabinet, they got a 28-75 there.
The reason why I did not go to shops like MS colour to test lens is because i was afraid that they do not have any "opened" lens. I certainly wont want them to specially open a lens just for me to test, as i hv no intention to buy just yet. Thus i went to Sony Style Tamp1, as i saw that they got display sets available.
So i was kinda surprised when the salesman says "Sorry, we do not allow testing of lenses here. You can only test the lens on those cameras (pointing to the A500, A550, A330)."
Those cameras are fitted with kit lens and 30mm macro... :sweat:
Lame............ask them to try doing that in US or Angmo countries............I think the service first campaign fails miserably...........:thumbsd:
maybe its that branch only. Im not condemning Sony because of this though. Maybe i go down wisma branch and see how.

as far as i know, testing of lenses can only be done at wisma. its suprising as the tamp1 branch is the 2nd biggest branch after wisma. and they have almost everything there.
I've also been able to test in Bishan.

You bring your A900 with CZ of course they let you test lah, if they see me with my 5D and kit lens, they wouldn't even want to entertain me. :bsmilie:
Why only Angmo country fail? Singappore also fail... we should not accept such a lack of basic service standards!
You mean Tampines? Or Wisma?
