SSM - Super Sonic wave Motor, to make it simple, it uses super sonic vibrations instead of a rotating motor to adjust the focus mechanism.

From experiences, the quoted price varies depending on who picks up the phone even if its the same shop. So I would hope to hv a feel of the street price before calling, to know if I'm quoted a high or low price.

Florence quote me a higher price when I asked about A500. She was at the main branch and I walked in somemore. Then I walked over to their amk hub branch and got it $30 cheaper.

And ms color didn't reply my e quote for 2 days already...

Just few days ago I was at MS colour asking for a quote for a lens. The salesman gave me a quote higher than Courts price also. I quickly questioned him and he gave me the expression that he genuinely made a mistake. Mistook me as a noob, I thought. With much less effort he appeared to have made at first in searching for the right price he gave me the real MS colour price, which is the only reason people travel so long to AMK for a lens/camera. They just had to try, because they don't realise that there are Sony users who know the dSLR world well, especially the prices.

OT: I've boycott MSC, rubbish service. I usually buy from Cathay, even though they might be selling products slightly more expensive. I get customer service satisfaction from Cathay, and that's what attracts me to buy from them.

This lens is more suited for FF, as in APSC, it would have a narrower view. Some may not like this. If you are looking for a F2.8 lens, Tamron 1750mm F2.8 is a better choice. IMO.

From what I read in KurtMunger's comparison mini-review, the Sony is sharper at 28mm, the Tamron is sharper at 75mm.

If you're a landscape shooter your CZ is good enough since it provides you 24mm WA view compared to 42mm WA view with this lens.
