I think, someone had posted why some would avoid to get Sigma in this forum...

I read before that older batches of sigma lenses has focus issues. But nowadays less of such problems already. But anyway u can test ur copy of the lens prior to buying, if there's any issues can request for another copy...

The issue about the front and back focus issues of the Sigma are highly exaggerated... besides who shoots graphs and charts all the time? I can live with slight back or front focusing... many of the forum threads deal with rather obvious issues or nit-picking... all lens will front or back focus slightly since each camera body is different. Hence the ability to do micro-adjustment for the latest crop of DSLRs... I don't think this should really be an issue to consider.

I am not sure what's all the fuss about the pricing...isn't this price expected in the first place?

Sony has already given everyone a cheap FF body. Couple A850 with this FF lens at constant F2.8 with AF motor and IS, it's a killer combination at a affordable price!!!

I dun think any other manufacturer out there can provide the same IQ, features at this price as of now!!!

The fuss is that there is a higher spec lens from Sigma that gives equal image quality to the much more expensive CZ24-70mm. So there is a viable alternative at the same price point. 4mm wider, HSM. I think most would expect this new lens to be like the 70-300G. Cheaper but of high quality. The 70-300G costs less than $1000 now. So I would have expected the new 28-75mm to be priced just above $1000, maybe $1100 or $1200, instead of $1400+. Perhaps price will fall in 3 months. Cos at $1400+ I would pay just a bit more for the Sigma.

Ok I guess its pretty pointless to debate on whether the new 2875 is worth its price anot. The best thing is to wait for someone to review it.

Can anyone with cz2470 or sigma 24-70 hsm do a lens comparison test with the new lens at Sony style or some shops?

:)

Impressive. It beats the CZ in the corners, and the gool old Minolta 28-135 is still outstanding.

The new 28-75 has very very nice corner sharpness even at 2.8!

Yes... I rub my eyes just to confirm what I saw... No wonder a few bro in our forum who tested it love it instantly.

Very impressive!

Seems like the good old minolta lens are still the sharpest

He didn't, android17 did. ;)
That's why I ask why android17 still asking since he posted the link?

Didn't notice he was the poster

I mean someone should go down Sony style to do a test between the cz24-70 and Sony 28-75...

Afterall the cz cost nearly $2k more, so it'll be interesting to see how well they perform against each other.

Tried at Cathay photo already. Can safetly said it as good or even better than any of the existing minolta/Sony primes except for the 28f2 and cz primes

sigma 24-70 HSM for 1.2k? sure bo?

Street price is $1500 before bargaining a little... compares very favorably to the RRP of the 28-75mm... so the gap between them might be as little as $200... not much in my opinion.

AF speed? I've not tried the CZ, so there... what's your opinion relative to the CZ 24-70 & Sigma 24-70 if you had experience using them?
