Your friends are used to seeing images that can slash through eyes and make them bleed.

No what I mean is that how come when view on com can't see the jaggies and must print out then can see?

Simple...

You print one and you will understand why. Pictures do tell a thousand words, so I am saving my breath.

By the way, most mini-lab machines (especially Fuji Frontiers) will sharpen your images regardless.

OMG. In that case, is there anything that can be done to eliminate jaggies in my photos taken in the past if there is?

Is it confirm that every shot taken under high sharpening will have jaggies?

I have been using Fujifilm DSLRs since 2002. I am speaking from experience.

That depends on what kind of images you have. Images with a lot of straight lines and fine details (such as cityscape and architecture) are the most prominent. Not so much on portraiture though.

Does that mean that can't get those photos that looked like damn post processed from photoshop due to sharpening, straight out from s5?

It is not soft lah.... You are so used to seeing images from your D80 that you think this is soft.

I think I also too used to see damn sharp pictures. Look at tomcat's recent jiu zhai gou pictures. Damn sharp. It is:o:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

i want my sharp photos hahahahaha.. actually ok la depends wad u shoot.

you guys really worry a lot :bsmilie:

Walao....

You guys maciam end of the world when your images are not sharp.

Let uncle Photobum gives all of you a suggestion. Go read Bruce Fraser's book "Real World Image Sharpening with Adobe Photoshop CS2". You will know then how and when you know an image is sharp or not.

Bruce Fraser passed away in December 2006. Therefore, this book even though a bit outdated, is still relevant today.

Let uncle Photobum analyzes your image to see where the problem lies.

Oh, simple.....

One of the model's eyes is off focus. It takes two hands to clap. That's why almost everybody comment that your image is soft.

May I know what is jaggies?

Not easy to explain. I guess the best analogy is to use a comparison between a smooth diagonal line like a gentle uphill slope and a staircase.

With the S5 the diagonal lines look like a staircase with obvious 'stepping' in some areas.

I still have not shot extensively with the S5 but I certainly see both the pros and cons of my 'new' camera compared to the Canon 1Ds system (which has its own weaknesses and strengths) I used a lot over the last two years. Haha, now really no choice. Must keep both. :bsmilie:

hmm.... then may i ask...what will be a good setting for a model/portrait shoot? ;p
