New to the S5 and only did a few test shots this afternoon. Even with STD sharpening I'm seeing jaggies at 100% already...guessing there would be more if sharpening is even more aggressive.

don't worry about the jaggedness. the pics will turn out beautifully when printed.

I have also come across this comment from many Fuji users but I think you need to qualify that statement. At 5R, mabe even 8R, no worries, the S5 sensor is sufficient for beautifully sharp prints (so is any 6-8MP camera).

But I have printed many 12 x 18 enlargements and -- comparing with other cameras such as the D200 and D300 (same lenses used) -- it is clear that: (i) the S5 delivers a lower resolution (less per pixel sharpness), and (ii) the famous Fuji jaggies are visible especially when you have lines that are between 0 and 45 degrees.

So, yes, if you can see jagged edges at 100% on your monitor, they WILL show up in prints of sufficient size. If you don't normally view or print big, the S5 is a wonderful piece of hardware.

i have done 20" x 24" print without problems.

Bingo..... Henessy and Nakedtoes. That is your answer. ;)

The jagged lines will be more prominent if you set your sharpness to 'Hard'. It will appear even on a 4R print.

This is one of the flaws of the SuperCCD sensor.

May I know which sharpening level would you recommend? The reason I set to high is because the s5 is a bit soft at high ISO due to NR.

This is really nice!

thanks i tot so tooo was amazed look 3d and the sharpness was set to std. inspired by my gf she ask me take one.. i was actually lazy to shot. but the separation of the layers were really nice..

Imagine steps of a stair. Now, apply this to the straight lines on your images. That's jaggies.

I use and recommend 'standard' setting. ;)

But will standard be sharp enough for viewing on com? Cos not all my photos will be printed out.

Anyway, so far did not notice any jaggies in my photos with High sharpening.

You take a look at my images posted in the past. Do they look sharp to you? If they do, then 'standard' is the setting I use and you should too.

Wait until you print them, then you will start to cry.
