This one is nice. Good compo, nice colour and sharp (at least for this size). Just that it has some keystone effect, can be corrected during PP anyway.:)

Bring a table top tripod, those small tripod you know? It will definitely be helpful especially if the lightly is dim. Since its round table, then I think you will have to forget about the A4 reflector concept liao....I guess those other guests at the same table are not your close friends, then it may disturb their lunch. So look for a sit that has good lighting loh. Make sure the light will fall on the food facing the cam and not back lighting the food.:)

Thanks lastboltnut, I was intending to hand held my camera because it's going to be a sit down round table lunch :dunno: where should I be placing the A4 paper when shooting? Pardon my ignorance plssssss...still newbie baby.

Found this so assume I place A4 paper equal angle with my built in flash

THANKS :) Oh...I forgot I can bring the small tripod. The people on the same table are my friends so ok lah but you know what it's like when food are served, people usually can't wait! ha ha ha. Too bad I can't choose my seat as the table has already been assigned. Maybe I should try to shoot the chef when he's demonstrating the cooking. What's the best setting in situation like this?

Wah, cannot tell setting like that, it depends on the situation.....lighting, DOF you want etc...:) Just bring an external flash and bounce it if you can.:)

Thanks. What's keystone? Actual pic is sharp...as I used F8 and tripod for this pic. Tried to get as much DOF as possible. Did leveling and cropping for this pic only

S5 IS

I like the composition of this. It might have been better if you moved a bit more to the left, that way there would be less of the building in the back.

HDR Post processing gives it a very 'film' look. Its nice that you did not make it too garish, like some people do.

Try not to shot at f8, f4 seems to give the best sharpness for this lens. Also, with such a small sensor, f4 normally gives more then enough DOF.

Keystone Effect is what normally happens when you use a projector and project onto a surface that is not right angles to the projector. You get this distortion. The top seems smaller then the bottom. Google it for images.

Yah, as bro cerebrus has explained, keystone effect is when the top of a supposedly vertical become taper to the top. You get it when your camera sensor is not parrallel to the building vertical. If you use CS, you can adjust this with the Distortion/lens correction command.:)

thank you. yesh i didnt realize the presence of the building behind due to the flaring sun until postprocessing. would consider reshooting there one day hehe

for this shot, no HDR treatment was done. i only followed a guide to have lomo effects but to no avail. haha

Thanks...at the time of processing, i thought that my eyes re going off...can't seem to get both pillars straight and parallel......now i know why...looks like S3i at its 35mm equivalent....this is the distortion I'll get... Yeah...the tripod was a dorgey one..it's not really perpendicular to the ground.. Got a new one now with air bubble level...that ve already solve most of my problems in stitching so far...Ve yet to do 180 deg of yarra river at crown in melb. Winter is bad now over here. I'll leave the pic as it is...as a milestone of my photography endeavor. That pic was taken over a yr ago. Moving to 40D hopefully....I'm sick of the noise fr S3i

Ahh.... You sometimes get that strange glow around the buildings when doing HDR processing.

This is why tilt/shift lenses exist. It is normally impossible to get rid of the distortion when you are shooting.

For stitching, what software do you use? PT GUI is good, and the built it software on Photoshop CS3 is quite good also. I have even done hand held panoramic with them, with great results.

ooo..I like the second pic with planes.. wat did you do to make a purple sky ? Sorry for noob questions . U bought a original tele lens too ?
