Here are some of my virgin landscape pics. Comments?

Your skies are a bit blown out. You can reduce the exposure a bit, making the trees a bit darker. I feel that the trees are neither here nor there at the moment, so might as well not see them, giving you a better sky.

I like the colours of #3.

Hehe! Yup I using the mini table tripod as did not bring my big tripod. :-p

first time posting pics .. pls comment .. trying to take gd night shots. I know the pic's background not nice . Its trial and error . Pls teach me . Thanks

I still dun understand how to see from the camera itself whether the pic is clear or nice . Actually take several shots - most of them are ugly..sigh... I also read that to take night shot , better to keep ISO 80 rt ?

How to take gd moving night objects ? Wat are the settings ?? Looks grainy.. Still got lots of things to learn...

Did you use a tripod? What are you trying to show in this pic? Can share the EXIF data?:)

fiirst time posting pics .. pls comment .. trying to learn manual mode. Thanks

O, firstly, check that your verticals are vertical...the Merlion and the buildings after it are slanted to the right.

I cannot remember if SXIS cam has histogram, but, when you shot with Manual mode, you can see the exposure meter guiding you to expose more or less....however, this is assuming that you are metering with the right mode at the right spot of the pic....if you are not metering the right thing, the exposure will still be out.....

Yah, try to shoot with low ISO...personally I don't like going higher than ISO 400 when I was using S3IS. That's why tripod is so so important. And yah, the external Hot shoe is are really good improvement on the S5IS that makes me drool...;)

u r right it is grainy- was the shots taken at ISO 80- dosen't look like it.if taking moving objects in the night flash might be a good ideal-depends wat u r taking than again flash might not work. try using ur viewfinder instead of lcd wen taking the pic-that way ur focus will be clearer. some of ur other shots aren't really clear. i find the problems with those pics are the lack of focus, clarity, and noise level is toooo high. jus keep tryin-we all learn together:D

hi

Been in the forum for quite some time, finally post up my S3 pic.. more coming...

When the verticals (like the edge of a building) is parallel with the edge of the photo, its consider straight.

Moving object in the dark? If you want to freeze moment, use fast lens and/or flash. Long shutter, IS or Tripod. But there are a lot to learn in each and every one of these.:)

mm how to check whether the verticals are vertical ??

S5IS has histogram .

How to take moving objects in the dark ?? :embrass: Pls comment on my other horrible pics too.. thanks !

You could turn on the gird lines in your S5IS, which will be useful as a guide for vertically.

To shoot moving objects in the dark, if the objects are far away from you, even with tripod and flash, don't think you will be able to obtain a reasonably sharp photos without underexposing them, unless you are trying to capture the movement of the objects, and the objects are sufficiently lighted.

Was down for Black Knight Spotting in woodlands area, and tata, new surprise!

nth great abt these shots here, jus wanna show the power of 12X zoom :D
