It looks like I am gonna to go TPY and catch the Bus90.

Earlier, I thought of driving. Then, thinking that the car park there might be full when I arrive at 1300 to 1400hr.

I have the impression that our population has increase somewhat with new PRs and others added. So, I suppose this time will be more crowded than what we saw 2years ago.

What lens are you bringing to this open house?

i would think at least a 70-200 F4L

Can sneak me in? :bsmilie:

heh. sorry bro. i could, if i'm organizing the trip. ;)

I am referring to the flying display. Based on what I have done during the last open-house in 2006 and several Airshows, you will need at least 300mm to get some decent shots. And that is you still need to crop quite a bit.

As this is outdoors in bright daylight, you do not need large aperture lens. So, any of those 70-300 or 75-300 zoom COULD do the job theoretically. In terms of aperture and focal length, they can do the job. But in terms of AF speed, I am not so sure la. The F16 flies at supersonic speed, or even at subsonic speed, it is so darn fast.

And then, I found that I am better off doing handheld rather than with monopod/tripod due to the speed of the action and often high up and not at eye level.

If you wanna take photos of the static display you might wanna bring a wide lens too to take in the full length/wingspan of the aircraft. :)

Any idea how the flying display will be like? My last time attending the open house (years ago, hee!) they only showed F-5s & F-16s being scrambled, taxi to runway, then take-off. Followed by the planes landing. No fly-bys at all.

For the helos they have Guardsmen rappelling from a Super Puma and a Chinook with LSV underslung. (That time no Apaches yet.)

any idea what happens if it rains?

How long is the travel time for bus number 90 from Toa Payoh to the PLAB ?

Interesting....RASF actually issued a SAF 100 to ask me to go and gave me parking labels.

Frankly, theres not much a/c actions. Most would be limited to static displays and performance.

If it rains like today, well ???????

Well, I will rather not risk my gear getting Wet, Wet, very, very Wet.

My cam might be splash-proof, but not my lens. With heavy rain and high humidity, you risk lots of condensation that is difficult to get rid of.

BTW, today seems to be the wettest day of the month, if not this season.:sweat:

Must be very crowd and queue everywhere. People montain people sea.
