Boy & girls, let us be kind.
We have been very kind.
We could have said worse.

That's not the impression your posts are giving us.

Hehehe...maybe I am trying too hard not to harbour any intention.
Maybe the inside of me (i.e. my intention) is showing through my thinly-veiled disguise of diplomacy! Hahaha....!
Yes to both of you. It would be, it seems, the only possible way out of this unfortunate dilemma. In the eyes of the international community, there is nothing wrong with her speaking in a tongue with which she is more comfortable. But of course, if one could imagine, the MSU organizers would cry foul, as I believe politically all the contestants selected in Singapore should be at least decently fluent in English language.
An eerie thought just flashed into my mind....what if her Mandarin also buang one?!! Like that how?? Got translator also no use
well, multiple buangs, i think we hope she gets eliminated even before the main event... :bsmilie:

The government must do something about this, it's national security at stake here!! :bsmilie:
i was too busy taking photos to disturb her, but she was one of those who caught my eye.

Each of us is a gift from heaven while we do have our own inadequacies.
Some have a limp, some a birth mark, some a clip lip, some a short tongue. Some of us are blessed with a excellent body with excellent health. Some sings like a nightingale, some talks fluently without even preparing a script.
We have to know we are just part of a system, part of a society.
And indeed, she is not eloquent, but perhaps she could have a short tongue and cannot really get her diction right. She may seem far from ideal, but accept her as she is as she was already crowned.
While some of you think holding this title represents glamour and fame. But to be one and hold on to the title for life is truly a difficult task. She is and will be remembered as Miss Singapore for 2009. If she becomes horribly fat or if anything bad that happened to her, it will be news - 10, 20, 40 years down the road.
I have a buddy who became Miss Singapore long ago. We had a gathering at her place. She pulled me aside and we had a nice chat to catch up. And she said, "Do not believe in all the glamour you see. It's a horrible world out there and to survive with the title is tough. Winning the title is not all that difficult actually."
seriously,
who the HELL are the judges????
Last year I think it was cupsize.
How the judges define one has the 'quality' to deserve the title.
If you are 19 year old but can speak like a 5 year old. Obviously Judges like that this year so that so that we can label another something to be "Uniquely Singapore"....
The judges tend to only focus on one thing. Last year I think it was cupsize. This year it's height. Everything else doesn't matter.
