And the macro thing is really getting into me too ... Really like the mode 2 focus assist. Easier whenever you use it with your LCD screen only and not the EVF.

This one's not totally in focus as I am struggling for light, and the subject' located a bit higher for me to use all the support techniques. I end up attempting it wide open.

I acquired the Nikkor 50mm/f1.4 Millennium and the Canon 85/1.9 (from Nightwolf) and I finally got around to put them through their paces today. The Nikkor is a real.. gem of a lens that though it is an old design (but modern coatings) but it is comparable to the Summilux. The Canon is soft wide open but sharp stopped down to around f4-8.

The Nikkor is a real.. gem of a lens that though it is an old design (but modern coatings) but it is comparable to the Summilux. The Canon is soft wide open but sharp stopped down to around f4-8.

What aperture is this 85/1.9 at? It seems plenty sharp. Tried this lens before very well built, and heavy! Almost bought it, if only it's sharper wide open.

I used it at f1.9. Needed all the light I could get especially when I wanted the shutter to be faster than 1/100 at least. Yeah it is very well built and heavy but since it was so long it was actually relatively easy to hold and balance. :bsmilie: I would say it is decently sharp, but I think the Nikkor is tad sharper (the lens out resolves the camera sensor at the least!)

haha... good to know u are putting it to good use lah! and it does look sharp enuf on my screen.

It's sharp enough for webprints etc. Just that when you blow it up to full size, I can see the chroma and some softness. But otherwise, yeah, the lens is sharp enough

I thought the skin tone is really nice here. Hmm.. not sure if I see in my attempts.. did you do any specific pp on that?

I actually just use natural color straight out of the camera. One thing about the GXR is that the AWB camera gets a bit confused and skews the colors a bit in the weird Esplanade lighting.

I actually prefer the skintone from raw files, some tweaks on saturation, on my pen its better skintone on jpg. I tried change the color profile of gxr jpg but can't seem get what I like. Awb is actually more reliable with gxr than pen. your example does have very nice skintone ooc

I would dare say that as cameras go by, the Ricoh GXR delivers pleasing colors etc. but I would like that their jpeg files can be larger though. 3MB is a bit too small.
