I'm thinking of getting the Ricoh, not decided on the GRX or the GRD4. Is it cheaper to buy from ebay HK?

Was testing this lens other day, kinda heavy for my liking, though canon ltms' had some really nice gems...
Dun find shooting lcd / vf2 any difference to shutter lag...it's laggy for both haha...i wish they can bump up the buffer

thanks for the info! :)

yah. the 85mm is rock solid... but you should try the 100mm/f2. dat one can use as a personal defence weapon... or break MRT glass during breakdowns. ;p

Sharing some shots from level 33, MBFC tower 1, which offers a really fantastic bay view of marina bay, shenton, esplanade.

2 stitched shots view with light show. For those interested, level 33 has a microbrewery and food here. food is 26-40++, beer is 15 1 pint i thk, dessert ~15. Can also go in mid afternoon very empty and quiet, and a cuppa coffee cost 6... Light show at MBS is at 8, 9.30 daily and extra 11pm on Fri & Sat, last for 13 minutes each time. All taken with Voigtlander 12mm/5.6 LTM.

Thanks for the nice photos shared.

Have not been doing much shooting in Dec. Managed to find some time on new year eve to bring my camera out to take some photos. This happens to be the very last photo taken that day, which means is my last photo of 2011 :)

Always feel good to have this camera in my hand and shooting photos

a few more shots from my Ethiopia trip

Largest dandelion I have ever seen, didn't manage to ask the locals about the name of this species.

This was taken during an early morning near our hotel. This place is supposed to be some sort of bus terminal, but it seems people were scattered around standing at different places, there may be some order but can't quite figure it out..

Most vehicle on the street is at least 30 years old, we hardly see new cars. For instance, this 70's Peugeot is a very common car used as local taxi

I read someone saying that 16MP sensor version of M-module will be available in coming Jan/Feb:

Still no love for the Ricoh GXR? - FM Forums

Not sure if I am happy or sad with the news  Should be happy because having the same 5N 16MP sensor on GXR should be the dream configuration for me. ;p But I just bought the M-module.... :(

Another link from the same forum by same person who posted the "news":

To the few it may concern... ...GXR M module update - FM Forums

i think the a12 mount is unique enough without the aa filter, so they don't have to update that. the 5N is cleaner at high iso, but the GXR is acceptable by today's standards.

on the other hand the camera module to me needs some work to bring in a better screen and also a better EVF. if you haven't you should try the 5N's... the sharper images do help in creating the shot, and will reduce dependence on focus peaking. changes here would benefit ALL lenses/mount types.

hi guys, just wanted to share something I discovered this week -- Nissin's Di886 flash (Nikon version) works in manual mode on the GXR hotshoe!

tried out the combination for the first time this week even though i've had both pieces of equipment since 2009. for some reason, i'd tried out my sb900 on the gxr (which doesn't work) but never the nissin.

hope this helps someone out!

just to add, the nissin di866 can work as a slave flash too because it has an optical trigger mode, so i think it is the perfect partner for some strobist action with the GXR if you are so inclined. i believe it costs around the same or less than the ricoh gf-1 flash which I had been eyeing for while. i still have my nikon system so it's great that the nissin can be used with both. cheers!

Nothing to share recently of this incredibly small and handy camera. Yes, there're several competitors and 1 particularly new offering in X Pro 1, but I still think it's hard to beat the size of this camera (and yet still have the excellent built quality).

Here's 1 in mono-chrome to share -

UGH... I went shooting today, only to find that there was dust on the sensor, ruining a number of shots, and necessitating some crops. :(

I wish Ricoh installed a sonic cleaner. Would have saved me the trouble.

Thanks for info. I tried it on sb600 and was surprised it is working in manual mode also although need to meter manually.

I have both Sony Nex 5N and Ricoh GXR. Its true Nex 5N is cleaner at high iso but I dun like how the images are more smudgy. However, GXR tho more grainy is more pleasing as it adds a bit of texture esp when the photo is taken in B/W. The images on GXR, in my noobish view, have better contrast and details compared to the Nex 5N.

The EVF on Nex 5N eats GXR's for breakfast but I can focus on the GXR without the focusing aid aka "peaking mode". Finally, I don't need an adapter to mount my lenses so I don't need to carry extra things that i don't need. :D

Wonderful tonality!

Thanks, JK.

Let's keep this thread going, young124444 / wonglp! ;-)

Very much obliged, sir! Hope the images serves to convert more ppl to the world of Ricoh and M lenses, and even M adaptable lenses, it's a great camera with the A12 mount, not without it's quirks tho, but it's tempting me to try the other A12 against my initial thots about this lensor system.

Come on newghost, motionstills, wstam, nazgulking, nightwolf75, virtualme78, zhaowei, photobees, etc...:)

Recently gotten a couple of adapters like bro motionstills, who has an great collection of lenses...

Here's one from SLR lens, SMC takumar, 85/1.8, a lens that had been sold to a friend who will make a better use out of it...

A lens that deserves much praise, Voigtlander Heliar 12mm/5,6 LTM and my favorite landscape setup these days, bought from Chiff the filter adapter to mount square filters, a whole lot fun...

There's a bit of a campaign to set up a similar thread in the Rangefinder forum but I will bite.

Personally, I use the camera for a fair bit of uses, such as concert photography and landscape. Here are some shots I took of a particular one by "Alvin and the Jazzmunks" that took place over the Christmas season at the Esplanade.

Lovely set, lovely lens that's plenty sharp, the A12 sensor is doing well here.
