Ricoh GXR!

Brothers, I just got delivery of my Biogon C 35/2.8, played with it on a 5N and absolutely loved the MF. Just reminds me of the good old days with my Contax and RD1. I am seriously gonna get the GXR, just not sure if the rumors of the 16MP module is true.

You visit my hometown ? Then I must like this thread. Like the color from GXR.

5N imo is best body to use to MF and best hi ISO, however, GXR if has the peaking & evf as good as 5N, it's no brainer to choose GXR, for stills and MF lenses that is, apart A12 mount, i dun really subscribe to lensors concept. Colors, sharpness (no AA filter) and DNG raw files so friendly! I'm happy with A12, unless rumored A16 is that much better...

my gxr + a12 set arrive via ebay fm HK just a couple of days ago. having a blast shooting it with my LTM lenses... i've actually having more fun on this than my recently-traded M8... (apologies to the leicaphiles... if it is of any comfort, i do think the M7 beats the pants off M8 tho... heh).

GXR + canon 85mm/f1.9 LTM

btw, is it me or just the design of the VF2 - there is a lag between me pressing the shutter and the image being captured when i am using the VF2? i felt shooting via the LCD screen is a little faster than using the VF2. am i missing something? :dunno:

Recent trip to Ethiopia. GXR proved to be a very appropriate camera because Ethiopia is a very dusty country during dry season.
No stress when changing lens outdoor.
I have compared it with my mates photo taken with Nikon and Canon, some how their color on African skin tone almost consistently off but Ricoh's color seems to be most faithful.

Hi wstam,

Thanks for ur kind words.

I went with a church. They were building a church, kindergarten and Bible college there.
We have been on very tight schedule, i only manage to take some photo during breather in between.

I brought my whole set of GXR there, 2 A12 lensor, VF2 and ricoh GF1 external flash. They have proven to be versatile enough for all my needs. Very happy with the set up :)

Hey guys, I've just bought a GXR + M-mount Module + VF2 off BNS. Just wondering if there is any in-built function or software to check the shutter count? The M-mount module is about 2 months old and the seller said he didn't take a lot of photos. I've taken a few pictures and the image no. actually goes like _0010349.jpg. I wanna check the shutter counter to see if its 349 or 10349.

Also, i like to know if I have VF2 on all the time... will the battery power runs out quickly? Are there any reliable 3rd party batteries on the market?

Please help a noob out... thanks :D

Not sure about shutter count. For batt, I got one from SLRR for $7, used it for about 2 months still ok. I have VF2 on GXR ever since the day i bought it, batt didn't run out quickly, in fact, I find shooting with LCD drains the batt faster.

Is the VF2 a must to shoot with the GXR? I am just wondering if a difference to the focal length of the lens will make a difference?

To me it's more accurate to focus with VF2, esp in a bright environment and taking low angle shot since i can tilt the VF2 upward, u will also gain additional support for stability when holding up the camera against your eye like a DSLR. But if you are already getting good results focusing with LCD, then you probably don't need one :)

It seems impossible to check the shutter count. What's the brand of the battery you got from SLRR?

Was testing this lens other day, kinda heavy for my liking, though canon ltms' had some really nice gems...
Dun find shooting lcd / vf2 any difference to shutter lag...it's laggy for both haha...i wish they can bump up the buffer

I really like GXR skintones, and it's great to have seen it in different nationality. Thanks for sharing!

Curious: Does anyone know the setting to bring up the global shutter? Been looking high and low for it but I can't find it.
