Ricoh GR Digital IV

i prefer using lcd since i find quicker n look more touristy when taking street photo

Me too, one key advantage of GRD model is it's size/portability. I don't use any accessories, love the convenience of just put it in my pocket when not in use.

May I know what the GRDIV has which GR is lacking or weaker? Interesting price the GRDIV indeed.

I think it's well summarized by silvermoon1407 in Thread Ricoh GR as below:

"I would actually go for the GRD4, if you already have a primary camera.

Why?

GRD4 has IS and faster by 1 stop, so in total maybe 3-4 stops advantage in preventing handheld blur. Of course you can bump iso in the GR, but u may end up comparing iso 800 of GRD4 with iso 6400 of GR for same exposure. Noise would probably be comparable? I dunno.

GRD4, being smaller sensor, has the advantage of closer macro n larger dof, which would be popular for ppl looking at this kinda form factor camera...

Image quality n dynamic range cannot be compared... But the ability to shoot raw can allow u to get images of better dynamic range and lower noise. I'll get LR4 with the $600 savings.

Most importantly, GR is not an upgrade of the GRD4. It's a completely different camera. Getting a GRD4 is like getting the best of what that product line has to offer, unless they come out with a GRD5 which really wouldn't make sense now.

Just my personal view

Anyone getting the wide lens for the GRDIV? Any reviews?
I'm still considering...

Optically quite good. I don't used it anymore after a few times as I find it bulky. If you are mainly in landscape or you like to use wider angle lens for street shooting, you will not regret it. :)

Greg you spreading the GRD IV poison. Thankfully I am broke kekeke.

Nobody believe it's true, especially with only S$390 now. You sell any one lens you can get it. You still want to wait? hahaha

Wah! Macro 1cm, Depth of field with smaller sensor ! Internal Stabilization, GR is not upgrade of GRDIV !
Like that I must think of an excuse ! I already use these excuses to buy new cameras

Q10 >> buy for my wife (Approved! my wife used on her recent trip overseas)
K5IIs >> My birthday coming ! ( Wife not approved as already got Kr )
GR >> Sold 3 of my Pentax lens DA35 f2.4 + DA50 f1.8 + Sigma 70-300mm = $700, top up only $340 to get GR ! (Approved)
GRDIV ??? ( Buy for my son ? but he is not into photography ! He is into archery !)

??? :think::think::think::think:

Buy a DSLR with a huge telephoto prime. Excuse to give son to train his shooting posture.

You kidding? With a GR already, you want to get a GRD4 as well? - if you really think GRD4 is a must to get, I don't mind to exchange with your GR:bsmilie:

No, i won't buy for Me! buy for others, not you since u already have GRDIV . but it's good to have 1cm macro, I already have unfocused macro subjects as I put the camera too near subject, since it is a 28mm. I just have to take and crop to get a closer view to subject.

This morning I took out my GRDiv intending to take a picture of it so that I can put it up for sale in CS (now that I have the new GR already). I got the new GRDiv for $390 from TK cos of the low price and I have been wanting to try it out. But truth be told I didn't really use it a lot, and after the GR was released, it stayed in the dry case / bag most of the time.

Then I decided to take it out for a spin since the weather was so good.

I have to be honest I'm having second thoughts getting rid of it - it's just so easy and intuitive to use, plus the results out of that small sensor does have its own special small sensor look!

Because of these reasons, I am carrying both GR and GRD IV with me everyday. Hey, it still beats carrying a m4/3 body+lens ;)

Tried bringing out my s110 and grd iv for an indoor. In terms of af speed, shutter responsiveness, lcd viewability, grd wins s110 hands down.
