Hey Gals and Guys, please share your PHOTOS with the LX5 here!

Thank you!
 ;) :)

LX5 has been literally flying off the shelves

Hi DM, you seemed to have tried out most of the features... however, I can't find any mode for HDR... any hints?

Anyway, having took out the cam on 2 occasions, I do have some comments to add...

So far, from what DM has shown us, the image quality is rather good (for a P&S at least).

What impresses me :thumbsup::

  1. The continuous AF and Face recognition works good and fast, I was able to capture my son running around me.
  2. I could hand-hold at 1/8 at ISO400/800 and get decent sharp shots.
  3. There are 2 custom settings available on the mode dial, on top of the usual PSAM and scene modes.
What could be better:

  1. The lens cap... with it tied to the left, it was dangling across my lens if I took a top-down shot. Hence, it put it on the right (so that I can grab the string on my right hand)... then I realised it is not long enough (lol).
  2. There was no easy way of accessing the Flash compensation, need to go to the menu, scroll down a few pages, to access it.
Some miscellaneous:

  1. I capture most of my shots in RAW, and some features aren't available when you do that, most importantly some (i haven't tried all) of the scene modes. Which I totally understand why. So you either let technology do it right pre-shot, or you need to work hard post-shot.
  2. Some features will store additional metadata in the images, which can be retrieved by the provided software... I'm using Lightroom, not sure if those info can be retrieved otherwise.
Okie... my notes for now... will post some shots if I have the time.

Hey, its on page three on the menu, multi expo. Though not inbuilt in the camera itself, you can create the HDR after taking the shots from post processing. On the LX5 commercial, Charlie Waite, a photographer, was playing the multi expo shots which is pretty interesting =)

awesome shots! thanks for sharing your feedback!

have not had the time to play with the camera yet...
my first share. . .

here's another share...
the LVF-1 is nice to look at, good to have on bright, sunny days, but not really a must. =)

Zan, I think Spurssy might have been looking for one of the modes, rather than a post-process technique. ;)

Spurssy, IIRC, look under the mode dial on the top near the shutter button and switch it the icon which looks like a 'palette' of a painter.

Then on the LCD screen, scroll down (top or bottom button on right or screen) to the 'High Dynamic' setting and select that ('set' or center button).

CHEERS! :)

White really look nice, I wonder if it will turn yellowish in the long run

Yeap, I tried this... it allows 3 shots to be taken (non-bracketed) so you have to put it on tripod.

Possibly what I was looking for.. i'll check it out when i get home.

Thanks

Thanks for posting up your LX5 shots King Tiger. :)

Went with my bro-in-law to search for a camera for him last Sat, and he ended up with the LX5. I had some opportunity to play a while with it, while comparing with my own LX3.

Some of the initial things I like:
- larger zoom range of 24-90mm compared to 24-60mm on the LX3. 60mm is really not long enough
- ability to zoom while taking video (to me that is a big plus)
- better defined grip

Will try to make some more comparison again. But one for sure, I am itching to change my LX3 to LX5.:bsmilie:

I just remembered I had other shots of the bay ... :)
