Recently my iPhone 3GS battery drains very fast!

I can fry an egg on my Iphone 3G. Surprise the charge is inconsistent. Sometimes last for one or two hours, sometimes a day. :think: ..... I felt that the phone is playing punk with me. :bsmilie:

This usually happens when the iphone suddenly feels very hot. All i did was to just switch off the phone and restart it and its fine again. Read it some where on a mac forum that there might be some processes running in the background that causing the phone to heat up fast and drains the battery like a thirsty camel.

if that's the case, then what's the point of having multitasking when battery gets depleted real fast? probably that's the reason why the current iPhone version does not have this feature :dunno:

It is true. I fully agree. I remember the i had the phone fully charged before sleep. When wake up in the morning, the phone sometime feels hot and battery drained to 1/4 bar. :think:

Sometimes, you don't need to restart your iphone. Just press and hold the top Lock Button for a few seconds until the 'Slide to Power Off' appears. Do not power off instead press and hold the Home Button (centre button) for a few seconds until it disappears. This will close any stray or problematic apps running in the background. For Windows users, imagine this as the Control+Alt+Del. Works for me every time when the battery drain appears.

To preserve battery life further:
1. Turn off Bluetooth
2. Turn off Location Services
3. Set your Fetch / Push to Manual
4. Turn off Notifications

Firmware 3.1.3 for Iphone and Itouch is here. Claim to improve batt live. As far as my Itouch, seem to be true after half day use. Need to use it for few days to tell.

I know 3G, Wifi, Push Notifications, Location Services, MMS all drain power.

But the thing is, previously not as serious as these few days. :embrass:

This sounds like a scary movie. Dun play play with lithium products. One wrong sudden discharge... (Ris Low comes to mind)

After a day usage on the new FW. It really does prolong the batt life of Touch... noticeably.
