Raynox (Japan) Products Now Available in Singapore! Part Two

Planning to use Raynox DCR-250 on my Nikon 50mm F1.4G, shouldn't be an issue right?

Can I go down to your shop to test before commit?

Hi njchay,

DCR-250 works well with your 50mm lens. The only thing is the focusing distance would be reduced to around 12cm instead of 30cm for normal shooting. It is not a big issue though, as along as you are shooting stationary or slow moving objects.

Please call our hotline to arrange for collection time if you are keen.

Hi Jim,

just want to ask u whether your side selling these type of converter which consist of 0.5x wide angle with macro ? If have how much u selling? Or is there any similar product which u can recommend?

Hi Kimutaku,

I strongly suggest you go for premium brands like Raynox which has wide angle and macro lenses. You pay slightly more but you will be more than satisfied with the lens quality.

Those converters with combined wide angle and macro functions may not be worth your investment as the picture quality leaves much to be desired.

Cheers.

Hi Jim,

I currently have a tamron 90mm macro lens for my canon, just wondering if you'll rec raynox 250 for it or if it's even compatible?

Would like to know how much is it too.

Cheers.

Hi bonrya,

Yes, your 90mm lens can be used if you find the focusing distance of around 11cm to be acceptable with the DCR-250.

Otherwise, you can consider the DCR-150 instead, which offers a focusing distance of 20cm but has a magnification power of 60% only compared to DCR-250.

For price details, please refer to our website: www.mcgill.com.sg and click the camera converter lenses to look for these as I'm not able to provide the links from this computer.

Cheers!

Thanks Jim. I usually take closeups of still life, so was thinking the raynox 250 will be worthwhile. However will I be able to shoot handheld without a flash in daylight settings? Much appreciated. :D

I bought a DCR250 from you but afterward I read from your web that the DCR MSN 202 is having higher magnification. Are you selling it and what it its disadvantage as compared to DCR2500?

Thanks!

Hi bonrya,

Daylight macro shooting handheld is possible without flash. But if you wish to reduce the aperture, a diffused flash would be most helpful.

Hi tamama,

MSN-202 has 3x more magnification than DCR-250, so it is more difficult to use with DSLR lenses as focusing distance will be reduced to around 3-6cm. It is more useful with compact cameras like the LX5.

Yes, we have it in stock.

Cheers!

Hi,

Like to check on the following for DCR250:
1. Magnification
2. Working distance

If I use it on the Canon EF 70-300mm IS lens.

Thanks!

Thanks for the answer. I guess it would be inconvenient and it is simialr to stacking two DCR 250. The focusing distance becomes 3cm for my lens. No way I can shoot any insect. =)

Hi florizel,

You can consider the DCR-6600PRO or HDP-2800ES 0.28x semi-fisheye @$290. New stock coming in soon.

However, we must say that the DCR-730 is a very solid performer at a low cost! It is also in stock for immediate pickup or delivery.

Hi Jim, I'm currently using Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro USM for macro shoots. But sometimes I just found that the 1:1 magnification is still not enough for those very small insects. Between Raynox DCR150 and DCR250, which one will you recommend? Or is there any other better choice? Thanks.

Hi proust,

Which Raynox lens you use depends on the level of magnification you wish to achieve.

With the 100mm macro lens, you may use DCR-150 as the basic lens first and change to DCR-250 if the need for higher magnification arises.

The complete kit is known as CM-2000A. Check out the test photos taken with a 50mm lens and you will have a better idea about the possible magnifications.

I have a NIKON AFS MICRO 85mm DX. Min distance is 28cm 1:1

I find shooting insects is still NOT close enough. I am using pop-up flash

Can recommend which is the correct product for my use

1. RAYNOX 150 or RAYNOX 250
2. the min distance when RAYNOX is attached (approoximate how many cm)
