50mm f1.8 around $180. 50mm f1.4 around $320. Minolta 50mm f1.4 is one the cheapest 50mm f1.4 compared to nikon and canon(both around $500?) so if you think you are going to use the 50mm focal length often, I think the price of the Minolta 50mm f1.4 is a great steal.

I did a casual test shot with the 50mm f1.4 when I was finishing my last 2 frames on that roll of film... Pardon the quality as it is scanned through neighbourhood photolab, shrunk and adjusted through the free editing software Irfanview... I can say its an excellent lens.

make sure you have the quantity lor, besides, make sure KM commit to it, i cancelled a MO due to KM's inefficiency to bring the item in for more than 6 mths.

Thanks Sulhan! I posted that pic before but I decided to edit the pic a little again, so the link from the previous thread that it was posted in is gone. Hope you are enjoying your 50mm too...

Canon Prime 50mm F1.8 only at $180 if I did remember correctly..Only Nikon of the same range is slightly more expensive.. :)

I think mac_13 is talking about the Canon 50mm f1.4 costing $800 compared to minolta's 50mm f1.4 costing $320... Wow... That's a very big difference in price. Nikon's 50mm f1.4 would could about $400-$500 I think...

thats because canon's 50mm has USM.

I may have an opportunity to pick up a secondhand Minolta AF 50mm cheap-ish, but it's an F1.7. Is it work getting instead of an F1.4? The other thing is the 50mm F1.7 comes with an accessory ... a 7000 body :bsmilie:.
