Price drop for Kx Body/Kit/200mm/300mm lens kit :)

I just got a white K-x from SLR-R, really loving it so far.

Any tips on what is a good flash for a beginner?

This is the perfect place to start: http://pttl.mattdm.org

Just a quick comment here. I'm a Nikon user for a long time, and if the K-x has a built in wireless flash system that works well with its dedicated 360 flash head, then it would really be one of the best entry level DSLRs out there over the other standard brands. Also, it uses DNG RAW as well which is a widely readable RAW format.

As you can prob guess... I'm also eyeing K-x (as a second body/system) : P

Yes, the K-x has built in wireless flash system. I've tested it working with a Sigma 530 DG Super

Hi guys,

I Salute the shop for not letting ppl try on the new sets. Really!

I just thought that since they are marketing the product so aggresively, they should have a demo set for ppl to try.

Err.. What marketing? I still see zero marketing from Pentax and Emjay for Pentax products. Just about all the marketing is via word of mouth from passionate Pentax users and good reviews in camera review sites.

With some kind assist from fellow expert, i managed to go to a shop to try out the D5000 and KX. My personnal feel when holding the KX is ok but when taking shots with it, I find the body is a bit small too small for my comfort, compared to D5000. And for whatever reason unknown to me, I prefer the interface of D5000.

Lucky I tried, now I am more convinced to get a D5000, not that KX is lousy, as a matter of fact, I find KX very value for money. peace

Understandable, I felt this way initially when I 'downgraded' from my K10D to the K-x. Handling the K-x was a little awkward because it's so small compared to the K10D that I've been used to. It didn't take long for me to get used to the size of the K-x though, so I don't really notice it anymore unless I'm using both cameras in the same shooting session.

If your hands are really huge, then that could be a problem, but otherwise I think you will easily get used to it like I did.

Most likely going to get a KX tomorrow . hope they still got stock

Now still deciding should I just go with the dual kits lens set (DAL 18-55 and 50-200mm)

Or White kx single kit set + additional 50-200mm (cos dual set only come back)

Anyone know if they sell DAL 50-200mm lens ? how much will it be ? or only DA 55-200mm is available in the market ? And how much will it be ?

Thanks for all advice .

Hi ppl! I am thinking of getting a white K-x. May I know if it will turn yellow after sometime(even if its well taken care of)?

Nobody has had the camera long enough to tell you this. But I guess it won't turn yellow before it stops working :)

thinking of the kx but anyone knows if it comes with an 18-200 or 18-250 lens? like you buy the kx body only and get such a lens from tamron or sigma ? and how much would 18-200 and 18-250 cost?:dunno:

You'll probably have to call up the shops for quotes for the K-x (body only) and for Tamron/Sigma 18-200mm and Tamron/Sigma 18-250mm

any changes to the price ?
i am confused as i seen some price for a body with single lens. only 890 ?

890 should be the twin kit (1855-50200) bundle price. Body alone is 74x or below :)

lanxer,
I believe the prices in posts #1 and #12 are still current. So single lens kit should be $800 or just below. Double lens kit should be around $900 or just above.

Can someone recommend a cheap and good tripod for use with the K-x?

Thanks!

I'd recommend a Slik Sprint Pro. Light (under 1kg) and decent for light weight setups. But the ball head is not too good (quite a bit of shifting when turn the lever to lock it tight). The Benro ones seem decent enough for the price as well (there are other similar China brand tripods as well).

You should post this in question in the General forum to get more help.

Buy dual lens...then u will cover the whole range on a cheap package price.
That will be enough for a while before LBA kicks in....

For a first timer, I'd say get both. From there, you can get used to the different focal lengths. Next thing you know, you'll be venturing into the world of primes.

At $120, the 50-200 is an incredibly cheap gamble if you ask me. Kinda like a nifty fifty, except Pentax doesn't sell the F 50/1.7 much nowadays.

what is LBA ? sorry to ask.

LBA = Lens Buying Addiction

other forms:
Gear Acquisition Syndrome
Camera Buying Addiction
or just Buy! Buy! Buy!

can i check ? if i buy a RED body. the lenses will also come RED
?

Only the 18-55mm kit lens will be red. Any other lens you buy will remain black colour (or silver in some cases)
