Price drop for Kx Body/Kit/200mm/300mm lens kit :)

in fact i like their service. standardised and firm.

i also ask for testing and i 1st time test and buy dslr. he rejected me politely and say they dun have demo. the set have to be brand new and fair to the next buying customer should i not buy after testing. i guess shutter count?

however, he promised me to test the set i buying is working after payment incase can take another set if faulty on the spot.

based on this, i immediately bought it cos i believe i really buying BRAND NEW set.

just curious, what was the cheapest price ever for the k-x on amazon? i heard there was a dual lens kit for 500USD(i think i heard wrongly, seems too good to be true)?!

USD $643.99 - I picked up one - a black dual lens kit (18-55 & 55-300). Is on its way to me right now. Should reach my Singapore address it by 24th Jan or so i.e. took a full 3 weeks to reach me!! This was the lowest price since mid-Dec 2009 (I was checking everyday)... and then I could take it no more and finally booked it on 3rd January fearing a price rise after the festive period (Xmas & New Year) got over! Then a few minutes later I was struck by a strong jolt of LBA... and ended up up I booking the other kit as well (18-55 & 50-200)!!

When I return to Sg next month, one of the first things I will do is to sell off all the kit lenses... three of them... one from my first K-x kit... the body has since been purchased by another respected and highly knowledgeable member here.

But, as of today, it would be silly to buy this on Amazon... because after the latest price reduction by the local distributor, the K-x kits are currently much cheaper in Singapore! So don't waste your time anymore shopping for the K-x on Amazon... not really worth it after you factor in the additional shipping costs. Had the local distributor simply lowered prices around Amazon levels earlier, I would not have bothered buying online... even if it was a few dollars more expensive in Singapore!

Hmmm...maybe I read wrongly. But it seems that you have purchased the K-X 3 times. Seems strange to me. But maybe the bonus was good this year..

By the way, I bought a enelop charger and just started charging.

Would like to check with the users here is it normal to hear weird sound similar to those made by insects at night while charging the batteries?

Please enlighten.

Thank you all.

That's correct. My first kit was a black one purchased locally in Singapore in early November. I was very busy for the next several weeks and hadn't much time to enjoy it. I had also wanted a red body then, but it wasn't available. So decided to sell it off to someone who was looking out for a body only rather than keep it lying unused for weeks in the dry cabinet. Thought that I could then perhaps try to obtain a red kit locally.

Then, a few days later, Amazon hit me with some irresistibly low pricing! I succumbed and bought two different dual lens kits... primarily for the two different zoom lenses thinking I'd sell off one body (at or slightly below cost) later.

So that's how I end up with three black kit lens! Dual kits were only available in black. Had the local Singaporean prices not fallen recently, I would have been laughing all the way to the bank!

Will just have to lower the body price by $100-$150 dollars now! I still come out pretty much even... no money lost.

The other part of the story is that I also bought some other stuff at the same time... a laptop for me and another for my wife for an awesome promotional price. Saved nearly SGD $1300+ compared to the same brand/specs in Sg!

X'mas / New Year season is really a great time to shop in the USA! So, all in all, its been pretty much a  experience for me! With that kind of savings on the laptops, one of the dual kits turns out to be almost pretty much free!!

But the promotional pricing has all but nearly disappeared now! It was a seasonal/festive thingy, I guess.

Yeah, I wouldn't quite like it if people has been trying my set before I buy it. Would you?

Hi guys,

I Salute the shop for not letting ppl try on the new sets. Really!

I just thought that since they are marketing the product so aggresively, they should have a demo set for ppl to try.

Maybe they had too many ppl trying out their demo stuff but never buy, than again aint it part and parcel of doing such retail shop. I don blame them really.

Other than that, I must agree that they are very friendly and knowledgable.

I am sure not all ppl buys their cam only based on price, there are some who would like to test it out too.

With some kind assist from fellow expert, i managed to go to a shop to try out the D5000 and KX. My personnal feel when holding the KX is ok but when taking shots with it, I find the body is a bit small too small for my comfort, compared to D5000. And for whatever reason unknown to me, I prefer the interface of D5000.

Lucky I tried, now I am more convinced to get a D5000, not that KX is lousy, as a matter of fact, I find KX very value for money. peace

Wait till u buy lens then u know D5000 is value for money or not ,lol . I handle D5000, K-X and 500D , all abt the same size, quite small, but k-x grip is deeper , easier to hold and place your fingers. For those with bigger hands...then maybe D5000 is better choice.

If you haven get D5000 and more comfortable with N brand, consider D90 better, no headache when buying lens. Else u can consider K-7 , the build is better than k-x :)

For pic taking , both are good , wont go wrong with either :)

Btw, for those who want to test kx, i saw op got 4 colors of kx in glass cabinet for display. Maybe it's for testing etc . Best is give them a call, ask can test or not, then u go down ;p

No hurry , take your time to pick a cam u like ;)

Just a quick comment here. I'm a Nikon user for a long time, and if the K-x has a built in wireless flash system that works well with its dedicated 360 flash head, then it would really be one of the best entry level DSLRs out there over the other standard brands. Also, it uses DNG RAW as well which is a widely readable RAW format.

As you can prob guess... I'm also eyeing K-x (as a second body/system) : P

I just got a white K-x from SLR-R, really loving it so far.

Any tips on what is a good flash for a beginner?
