It's just their design, lets say you won't be installing a 24" rims on a Cheri QQ car. It would not simply fit inside.

D300s, D3x and Canon 5D markII. is big and bulky pro cams. ours is not just. but hey, even k-7 uses SD it doesn't matter co'z later you'll find out that you'll very seldom use continous burst rate.

correct, most SD card is cheaper than CF...
but now 30MB/s SD is the fastest in the market which cost $40 for 4GB
the 30MB/s CF which is the slowest in the market which cost $30+ for 4 GB:bsmilie:

Again: Flash card writing speed is no big deal. Stop making a big deal out of nothing. If you need to do continous shooting beyond buffer-full all the time, then go ahead and buy a CF capable DSLR. Otherwise stop whining about the lack of SD card support in the K-x and K-7.

am a newbie in camera but i do know that its the speed of the camera that is to be a factor too.

No point getting the fastest and most ex card if the maximium writing speed of the camera cannot match the card.

eg, if yr cam write time max at 20mb/s, getting a 30mb/s card will not help to make it faster.

Anyway i am not sure of the Kx write speed, maybe those interested in faster write speed shuold check the KX write time first b4 making wrong card investment.

Guys, thanks for your helpful comments on SD cards (& the rabbit-trail into CF cards that went with it).... but back to main topic of this thread...

I just got my K-x (body only) from Mr Quek of Manly yesterday - SLR-R had no stock of Kx (Body only) when I checked on Sunday. Finally I can reckon myself a Pentaxian :bsmilie: !!!

Mr Quek is also offering exact same price for the K-x body/various kit(s) as per post #12 i.e. same as SLR-R. I'm not sure where else offer these prices but AP-F is definitely not one of them - offered me old price $950 for 18-55 kit... duh

Anyway, Manly (Mr Quek) offered great service, relaxed atmosphere, very easy going, and competitive pricing. Though it's more of the friendly uncle feel compared to the youthful vibrance at SLR-R.

So those who are itching to get the K-x, I personally recommend calling both SLR-R & Manly(Mr Quek) to check availability of stock in your preferred kit or colour. Perhaps can cut down your wait??:dunno:

a little rabbit trail for those interested in peripherals for the K-x....

I also got my 8GB Class 6 SDHC from Manly for < $30 (~Class 4 price), though it's not Sandisk and it came in plastic case not sealed. But Mr Quek did offered 'warranty' on it. IMHO Flash memory cards just need to go back and test - if it's working, it's working.

Perhaps not a well-thought out execution, but I returned today evening to buy a Tamrac (bag) for my new K-x. I called Mr Quek up in the afternoon to enquire on my shortlist of Tamrac(s) - and my list ain't short. He was patient and helpful to the end, even though I did not commit.

Now when I arrived at the shop after work unannounced @8-ish, the shop was already closed, roller-shuttle was down, but good thing Mr Quek was still standing outside. When he caught sight of me, he just asked me which bag I wanted and told me to wait while he re-opened his shop! And it's still the best deal I know of out there for a Tamrac Velocity 5 lor!!

That's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Re-opening the shop (security system, backdoor, lights, roller-shuttle) for an item < $70... KUDOS to Mr Quek of Manly!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

sorry for the missunderstanding... just want to found out that will the flash card have eff with preformance.... i didn't say that K-x or K-7 lack of card support is a problem... i fact i perfer SD card... just trying to discuss about the limitation... not saying k-x no good ok?

That is what i want to find out! the writing speed of the K-x....
i have read somewhere that even a class 10 card with 30mb/s speed, writing speed is only 10mb/s... class 4 is only 4mb/s, with mean it take more than a sec to shot 1 jpg after buffer full... but true, it have buffer in the cam so it will reduce the chance of slow down due to card....

Thanks guys for warm welcome. I am using the K-x body with the 18-55 & 55-300 kit lens now. Am eyeing in future a fast prime for portraitures - let me get used to body's functions first. I believe something of 50-80mm is ideal for framing portraits right? Looking for f-stop ~1.4-1.8.

SD is easier to physically damage and get lost ................

Anyway digital cameras started off on the CF and it has more or less become the industrial norm ...... to each his own.

Looks like the FA 50mm f/1.4 or FA 77 f/1.8 for you
