Price drop for Kx Body/Kit/200mm/300mm lens kit :)

Hai!! My PR also advised me to stir away from the ubiquitious Canon. :bsmilie:

I am looking for the K-x BODY only. Thanks for info that Manly is matching SLR-R in terms of price, I'll check availability. Arigato.

LOL. Did you register this nick just for the purpose of replying this thread? :bsmilie:

:) Ha... ha...!! Are you really THE original Ken Watanabe ?!?!?! Even if you aren't... we welcome you warmly to the Pentax forum!!  ;)

Highly doubt so. Would probably be in breach of contract

Hi,
Excuse me if this is a wrong place for this message!
Can someone let me know whether it is possible to
mount an old Pentax M 1:1.4 50mm lens to a
Lumix GF-1 and where can I get the adaptor.
Thanks.

Yeah, there are a few Pentax K mount to M 4/3rd adapters:

Expensive though ...

The adapters are easily available on ebay; just do a search. Not cheap as far as I recall for the Nikon and RF ones.
Having helped a friend get a G1 to use with his old Nikon and RF lenses, I'll have to say that the best glass that fitted the 4/3 camera was still the kit lens and some of the RF lenses. The SLR lenses just broke the small form factor of the camera. My friend did try it on his Nikon 200/2.8 as well, needless to say he felt it was a joke.

Hahaha if it's me who saw this old man I might think that something must be wrong with him for playing with a lens acting that his is taking pictures.

Thanks guys for the welcome. Yes, I did register this nick in light of joining CS & the Pentaxian community within.

I was really sold to the 7D, but then I realized I was the one making the camera look so sexy! *ahem* ok back to earth... In all fairness the 7D is a handsomely built SLR but I simply can't resist the K-x's value! Definitely the best entry-SLR I have seen.

Hi Naidi,

Based on previous replies on this thread, I checked with Mr Quek of Manly today. He has limited stock of K-x and is matching the pricing. I didn't ask about white kit though. You could check out Manly if you can't wait, like me! hehe

mmm..this kind of defeat the original purpose of the micro4/3 to keep the size small and compact, right? I think this photo can be corrected with a K-x/K7 with a F*300mm lens!:)

Of course, just mentioned 7D coz' of my namesake...

I was in reality comparing 500D vs K-x, and camera-for-camera w/o consideration of price, the performance and feel of the K-x still came out tops.

Sorry guys, but I'm still getting used to navigating this huge forum... but where can I find information on:

1) the appropriate SD card (what does class 4 vs class 6 mean really?) to acquire for the K-x and the respective pricing.

2) Eneloop seems to be the mainstream choice batteries. Anything between $35-42 should be considered ok for charger + 4xAA?

3) Where to get those Made in China metal lens hood locally?

4) Filters choice (I am pretty clueless) and pricing?

Arigato! :bsmilie:

1) Any SD card will work, but if you like to take videos, better get something faster, at least a class 4 SDHC. But SD cards don't cost much nowadays, get the fastest one lah.

2) Eneloop AA 4x w/ quick charger should cost less than $40

3) from your home PC, I mean Internet ;)

4) no filter needed for the kit lens 'cause it's got SP coating, and it's cheap. A 52mm B+W MRC filter probably costs more than the kit lens already, and I wouldn't bother using a cheap fitler if I were you .

Good luck and welcome aboard. You'd look cooler than Ken Watanabe if carrying a white Kx

Greetings KEN WATANABE,
Forgive me if this sounds rude, but are you the real film star KEN WATANABE or is it just a Snapclub member name?
Arigato!

for the question 1, Class 4 and class 6 is refer to the speed if i am not wrong... Class 6 should be faster than class 4... if you have a faster card, your cam should be able to save the shot faster and ready to the second shot in a shorter time... this is what i read other place... so i don't really know how much different... i will get a K-x and a Class 10 card to try it out after CNY... a class 10 4GB is $40 and 8GB is $80 only... when you buy cam, DSL or pns, shop always give class 4 one....

for question 2, i think ask long as branded Ni-MH battery will good enough??? i got the energizer one with me and working well with my pns now.... will try at my K-x soon....

there is another question on the charger is the quick-charge will damage battery or not? i have a energizer charger that take 1 hour to full charge the battary...slow charge better or same???
