As mentioned in my earlier post, Manly, SLR and MS all out of stock

Anyone has any idea how much does (55-300mm) lens cost?

The DA 55-300mm is about $500 alone.
The Pentax K-x twin lens kit 18-55mm + 55-300mm should be $1103 at SLR-R I believe. Note that this one is the DA-L version of the lens.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm still a newbie with DSLR, just wondering wat is the difference between DA and FA lens ?

OMG! TELL ME YOU'RE NOT KIDDING.

my bf was just saying we can go look for the camera tonight or tomorrow evening. :bheart:
I think if you are willing to pay more, Manly has DA50-200 WR lens, this is the weather resistance version, much better but more expensive, but I don't know how much more expensive.

Call Manly and ask, Mr quek is very friendly and patient.

hi!
FA line of lenses are the later model of film autofocus lenses by pentax, it can be used with full frame film cameras and DLSR. Usually these lenses have aperture ring so you could mechanically set your aperture.
DA line however, is designed to utilize the crop sensor of a DSLR, it is usually smaller in size and lacks Aperture ring. this one cannot be used for film SLRs.

for more info please refer to the link.

Can use on the more modern film SLRs that have on camera aperture control. Only those old old film cameras cannot. (actually still can, but cannot control aperture)
Of course, some DA lenses will vignette on film sl.

...Manly, SLR and MS all out of stock...

Sigh!! This is why I always suggest jumping at such great offers right away!! Else have to suffer nerve wracking frustration... phone calls, transport costs to and fro if you visit shop and discover item is suddenly out of stock, etc. etc.!!

Hopefully the stocks will reappear soon at the same attractive pricing... don't dilly dally then any longer!!

i just called up manly and apparently, the WR lens are also out-of-stock. according to mr quek, he said we most probably would have to wait till after CNY for the stocks to come in. okay, i'm going to go cry and bang my head on the wall now.

HAHAHA. no fate to bring it with me for my vacation already.

i left my contact number with him so that he can call me up once stocks come. (:

Or you can get the 18-55 + 55-300mm twin lens kit? $1103 I believe.

...which is also a nice deal at this time... even compared to prices in other countries... Sg has the best prices for the K-x at this time... jump at it... the 55-300 is the better of the two zoom lens available at dual kits currently. The 55-300 is perceptibly sharper and offers longer zoom range.

But yeah... the body + 18-55 at the current price is simply the *bestest* pricing I have yet to see beaten anywhere else... even worldwide!

the dual lens kit is still only for black colour?

been self poisoning with the kc manual... getting overdosed...

Yes, both types of twin lens kit are available only in black.
Red/White/Blue only available as single lens kit.

anybody noe if still out of stock/when new stock coming for the kx? lookin 4 one :/ anyways, MS has white kx left , but $890 for body? weird. lol

Dear Pentax experts,

I need your advice on my situation here. I was torn between pns Canon G11 and DSLR in general. After reading so many reviews and this particular thread in CS, I have finally decided on K-x. Now the kit lens that comes with K-x is the earlier version one. The link below is the later version of kit lens. From lenstip website, it says the newer lens is better.

http://www.pentaximaging.com/camera-lenses/smc_PENTAX_DA_18-55mm_F3.5-5.6_AL_II/

So should I go for the standard package or just buy the body and buy the above lens separately? Secondly I have capitavoucher, any idea whether can use it at SLR Revo?

Thanks in advance...

the kit lens is also version 2. but its DA L version meaning it has a lousier build quality. optically they r the same.
