PowerShot S90! users.. Come In!!

Just share a quick tip: the IS (Image Stabilizer) option in S90 is set to "Continuous" by default out of box. Meaning whenever the camera is on the IS is activated - this potentially could drain the batt faster. I set mine to "Shoot only" option.

Another tip: When u just wanna review/delete pics when not shooting, don't need to use the main ON/OFF switch everytime - the lens mechanism will keep extending/retracting which speed up wear n tear and also add to battery drain. Just press and hold the "play" button for 2 secs and the playback mode will be activated w/o the lens extending. Press "play" again to turn off the cam.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: Superb tip!

Har? Like that also call "superb tip"???

Dun you guys bother to read your manual even before using your cam?

Garion: Take no offence, just highlighting the weakness of lazy bros with their high tech cameras.

We were too busy taking pictures.

Bros who made the effort to share his findings and experience like Garion and many others here certainly deserves all the thumbs up we can give.

Hi there,

Would it be cheaper if buying the s90 through the canon buy back programme? The one where you 'trade-in' and old model and they give you a discount off a new camera of choice?

Anyone tried that and know how much it is after the trade it?

Thanks.

It is call privilege purchase programme.
about 20.5% off the RRP. With your calculation you should know is it worth or not...

If I'm not mistaken RRP of canon s90 is $749. 20.5% discount would make it $595.45! Sound good although I assume that it wont even come with a memory card.

Finally land myself with the S90... first feel is the grip of this camera and there is a tendency to hold on the flash area. Must put a spike there;)

Where can i get the LCD screen protector for the S90?

How much is the third party battery for this S90 and where can it be purchases.

With International warranty  How to get one? Thought Camera body always local warranty?
I know in Malaysia selling around RM1490 is common, can get even lower, but international warranty I 1st time heard of it....

That is quite a good price! About $50-$70 cheaper than Sg equivalent.

Low Yat is actually the name of the shopping complex in KL which specialises in electronics and computer goods - its like the equivalent of SLS/Funan in Sg.

Does anybody know if there's international warranty on the S90 if it's purchased from Hong Kong? Prices there are about hkd 3,300.

Hi bro.

HK definitely cheaper but warranty maybe different terms.

I bought my 870IS from HK in 2008. The cam is only warrantied for 1 year LOCALLY there(HK & CHINA). In order to have intl warranty, I had to go down Canon HK office to convert it to intl warranty. But after conversion, it is only 6 months warranty in Singapore.

Maybe things now have changed. Do check first.

BTW, you may save $50-60 but you may have to forsake free gifts (SD cards etc) and 15 months on-line warranty registration benefits applicable for local singapore sets. Therefore maybe LPPL.

You have to update your Adobe Camera Raw, Downloadable from Adobe website, to read the raw files of any new camera, including the S90
