Wow, really handsome looking. Only available in brown?
IMHO HKD250 still a bit expensive...
Is it fit nicely? Do you mind to show a photo of how your camera fit into? Thanks

The case is designed specifically for S90 and it fits like a glove. No buldging or any visible deformation. The SHOIK leather smell that reminds me of a brand new Billingham.

But, there is no room for extra battery or SD card.

One thing could have been better was that Canon could have opened a slot on the top of the flap for the hand strap :dunno:

HKD250 is pricey...but since already spend so much for the S90...it does not matter to spend a bit more for the complete package. Right? :bsmilie:

Nice! How does the flap close - velcro or magnetic buttons?

Hi Tachyon! The flap is secured to the case by a magnetic button.

JellyBelly >> Thanks!

zchuan82, you are most welcomed! This forum is all about sharing lobangs right? ;)

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of getting the S90. Can anyone tell me whether this will work in Winter time? I'm thinking of bringing it with me to Korea next Feb and is thinking of taking pics during skiing as well.

full charge battery...and around 20 to 30 shots and just 3 mins video recording ..the battery already blinking..few more shots and no more..
i am very disappointed :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

There is something wrong with your battery.

Agree with gtl1987.. but there are othe factors to consider e.g. all 20 to 30 shots were full power flash?

In anycase, your experience with the battery life sounds a bit unusual.

Just got my S90 2 days ago and have been playing around with it.. I must say it has changed my mind on compacts, although i think the cam falls into the 'prosumer' range. Very appropraite for DSLR users who wants good IQ in a little package.

I got it at Parisilk Katong for 680 with 3rd party battery, screen protector and case.. I think i pais a little more but it's worth it. I was served by this chinese guy wearing specs (didn't get his name), and his service was excellent. I will always go back to parisilk katong now!

Some shortcomings of the S90:

Like what reviews say, the flash is in a position where your finger might be when taking a picture. if the flash was set to 'on' and the cam turned on, might get a shock and drop the cam if you're not careful.. happened to me a few times already. MIght wanna paste some kinda warning sticker there to warn unsuspecting ppl who might be handling your cam.. (something like yellow and black stripes)

And if you're gonna purchase the S90, do check for the flash. I tested the first unit the guy brought out for me, and when i wanted to pop out the flash, the cam just said "Wrong Flash position, reset Camera", which we did, but to no avail. In the end he got another unit for me.

Other than that, excellent camera. Was comparing it to the LX3 and decided to get it for the compactness, and extra zoom, and the cap to zoom in and out while in video mode.

Great cam!(So far):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Do note that for Video mode, it only allows digital zoom in. Zoom out will not go beyond the focal length that you started the video with. And it does not focus anymore once video starts. Frankly I am somewhat disappointed with the very lacklustre video features. I am sure it was not for lack of the knowhow at Canon... But still-picture wise, I am also pretty happy so far.

So far how is the batt? I read on many forum, they complaing of the low batt life.

I try it yesterday, the whole camera is good, but after reading online, i realise that the batt can only snap around 200+ shot..that's a big turn off....i still deciding on s90 or go with lx3

yup, only ard 200+ shots. buy more spare batts!!! if u going on a long journey.

I find mine around there battery flat. The battery physically is quite a small piece.

can get spare battery if don't wanna charge.. don't be too trigger happy!

hmmm how much does the 3rd party batt cost? lx3 can snap around 350 pic.. oh ya btw, s90 made in japan? or mic

Just share a quick tip: the IS (Image Stabilizer) option in S90 is set to "Continuous" by default out of box. Meaning whenever the camera is on the IS is activated - this potentially could drain the batt faster. I set mine to "Shoot only" option.

Another tip: When u just wanna review/delete pics when not shooting, don't need to use the main ON/OFF switch everytime - the lens mechanism will keep extending/retracting which speed up wear n tear and also add to battery drain. Just press and hold the "play" button for 2 secs and the playback mode will be activated w/o the lens extending. Press "play" again to turn off the cam.
