OM-D EM-5: Black or Silver?

I think the black's skin texture spoils the retro look ... I like black metal, but need to find someone making OM-D skin to put over the original skin.

Yup and I don't get why the vertical grip's skin texture doesn't match neither the black body's grip, nor the silver one's.

My experience with the HLD-6 is not really good to say the truth. I would like it to be a little more erm... leathery instead of plasticky. Or just... grippy.

2 things I like about the grip - extra shutter and dial.

2 things I hate about the grip - the texture and hassle of needing to unscrew it to reach the battery door.

You need to unscrew it? Wah, that's annoying! I'm instantly not that interested anymore. :-o
How is the OMD's handling without the extra grip and with longer and heavier lenses like the 75-300mm?

That's awful!! I'll bite the bullet and take it off your hands...

The only grip (pun aside) I have with the HLD-6 is that my hand rubs the main dial very easily. I could have changed settings withoout knowing.

I too thought the ski on the silver body looks better but i bought the black body anyway. The texture is not that noticeable.

has anyone have a feel of the black and silver? any idea is the silver colour is a coat of paint which is easily peeled or scratches off?

I think both are painted.

Take a look at the underlying magnesium alloy frame.

I guess there will be more than one coat of paint and they usually have different colors.

Probably several primer layers followed by the top surfaces powder coated.

Seems to be a very solid paint job to me.

I really don't like how the black one looks. To me, black looks better in photos and silver looks... Unimpressive. After handling black for half a day's shoot and receiving my silver 2 days later, there's no contest. Silver is the right choice. It looks so much better close up I want to sleep with it. Literally. So it's usually on my side table at night.

One more thing, the white OM-D and OLYMPUS letterings on the black body looks cheap.

Looks cheap....well since I care more about how this OM-D beat my in law Nikon and Canon in term of usability and ease of use I surely don't mind if they're silver or black. BTW I choose black ...:-)

Hey bro, this is what it looks like during the vintage time. I guess u were still swimming during that time.

I have no doubts on the build of the OMs. But it's just a peeve with the white paintwork I saw on the 2 units I handled.

The white paint on black body was painted out of boundary.

And let's just say I prefer the other vintage body.

I never use OM before, but OM-D still reminds me of my 1st SLR, the FM2.
