Yummy! Those are some nice food/drink photos, Denis. Very nice

Taken at Bird Park today.

EDIT: all taken hand-held, with K100D super + Sigma 70-300/ f4-5.6.
Resizing/cropping and minimal PP in PS.

Nice one here

Still remember the first time I brought a Sigma 70-300/4-5.6 to the JBP several years back, we probably shot the same birds at the same show :D But I can see the bird trainer is a different one ...

Didn't shoot much lately. Here is a quick snap of my daughter's new friend at the playground:

K10D+FA*85/1.4 @ F2.5, 1/125s, ISO100.

Hope you like it.

Nice try, Des. Why not using the F300 plus the TC to take those? I'm sure the results would be even stunning :D

Didn't bring along the F300 as just want to try out how the combination (1.7XTC + 50-200) performs to see if it's good options to bring along when travel. .

Guess i will leave it at home....:(

Pretty quiet here today. No one taking photos at all? ;)

Here are two I took over the weekend. The big sis fell down yesterday (running too fast and too reckless on a concrete road), got a bleeding knee, and of couse alot tears :( Well, she was okay a day before, although not in good mood when I took the photo:

Her little brother is the happy one, most time:

Your photos never fails to impress me. Another excellent one!

Hope we'd continue seeing great photos like this from you when you are away :)

thanks fengwei!

mmm, i have a few from punggol, but storing them for my apad thread - might have to stall off shooting in london first, have admin matters and stuff to do, best not to get distracted and suffer later on - so the reason for storing, hahaha

here's 3;

btw, those black things on the poor dragonfly are parasitic mites, at first i thought they were eggs, then a little reading up on the internet revealed that dragonflies never carry eggs around, they just dump them in water

Bro, the B&W tones for the fly and the composition is very nice. Great shot of the dragonfly. Your Punggol shot is as usual another shot that conveys a nice mood.

Hi Night86mare,
Nice shots and composition as usual! I'm trying to take some sea shots but then remembered I do NOT have a 10mm lens! :-)
Can such shots be still possible using 18mm?
Also, why do the shots look so noisy? Is it because you shot at high ISO or due to image compression artefacts when shrinking the image down for uploading ?:)

BTW, do you mean those black little balls are actually insects? argghh! I watched this show on TV in which insects lay their eggs on a caterpillar and the grubs feed on it from inside when they are hatched..!

thanks guys

last two? both, shot at iso800, should be more of that problem
first one will be slightly soft i expect, hdr from raw

yes, those little black balls are mites which just attack the poor dragonfly
didn't really get to see much literature on this though

but here are 2 links if you're interested to see more, quite creepy though

Nice shot Dennis
Where did you take this? I was at Delifrance taking pictures with my K1000D when the waitress came up to me and wanted to see the pics thinking it was a digital camera!
When I told her it was film, she firmly requested that I stop taking photos of their coffee and biscuits! :)

Shot at McCafe.
See this no photography in premises nonsense has gone overboard. Abject paranoia. Can relate a similar incident at Marche recently. Eating there with friends and saw someone shoot the paella (Spanish fried rice) with a compact camera. Would probably have been a nice shot of the mussels sticking out of the rice if not for 3 overzealous staff frantically waving their hands to tell the chap no photography. Afraid of competitor intelligence gathering?

If you've paid for your drink and food, I don't see why you can't take a snap of it. Perhaps Delifrance afraid you're gonna STOMP them on their food quality. :bsmilie:

WHOA! Superb photo, nightmare!Very nice atmosphere:thumbsup::thumbsup:

May I ask how much the 10-20 costs, and from where? I am looking for a wide zoom (currently have only 2 lenses 18-55 kit and the 70-300 sigma) and would appreciate your opinion on the Sigma 10-20.

I got mine for.. I think $720? $730? grey from Orient Photo at top level SLS.

I think you should just go grab it, from what I've read it's definitely the best value for money, other than build - which is subjective, it is a very sharp lens, imran (non-Pentax user, but very good landscape photographer) uses it. The distortion is uncorrectable, based on my personal experience, because ONLY the corners are mildly distorted, but overall is not distorted at all, almost.

I think your other choices would be perhaps the Pentax FE 10-17, but this is fisheye, or Pentax 12-24, which is a lot more expensive.

A lot of photo-magazines also highly recommend the HSM version, don't know if it's the same just without HSM, but I guess this counts for something?
