Very nice shots, Simon.

These locations need to drive? If not, I won't mind taking a short extended weekend trip down there, love the rocks especially. :)

This model is starting young learning to pose.

Sort of relaid out the house to get a bit more working space at home.
Now I can shoot longer body lengths other than head+shoulders and also a bit more subject to bkgnd distance too.
I can now shoot with longer FL lenses too.
Not ideal, but will have to do for now w/o making a mess of the house and furnishings.

Still a lot to tweak out though.
The bkgnd was supposed to be a deeper orange from a strobe+orange cloth+grid, but bounce from the left diluted it to a palish orange instead.
Probably have to improvise a flag to block off the spill for the next session.

Bounce : white wall on left

Dennis, I dunno about you but

for flagging:
-take a leaf from Neil VN's Black Foamie Thing(BFT). I've tried and it works good!

for background color:
-adjust in-camera WB (? shade for warm/orange)
-gel flash

Something like that I think.. Haha! Maybe I'm wrong. :D

Aiyo... I guess no go then.. No car! :( Thanks anyways!

Ha..ha..
Actually children tend to know how to pose because they are free of inhibitions (unlike adults)
But they shift about constantly and focusing and framing is a pain.
Plus their attention span for a portrait session is probably about 5mins

Thanks (its JK btw) :)

I'm aware of Neil's black foamie thing but IIRC, its more for controlling forward spill on a mounted flash that is used to for bounce flash.
Since the key light here came from a softbox at an angle that did not hit the bkgnd, the spill did not come direct from softbox.
It came from the light reflected from the wall bounce on the subject left (which is used so that shadowed side of subject is less dark)
I'll probably need to do up some sort of a foam core board as diffuser, but sometimes, just too lazy to DIY and was hoping I could find something in the house that I can improvise as a flag.

*gasp*...
Yes, JK.. LOL!! I dunno why but i always mix you and Dennis up.. ;P
Paiseh.. Paiseh....

Ah... I see.. Maybe flash too strong, that's why.. Hee! But yes, I usually can DIY but admittedly, can be lazy too.. ;P
*hey, at least i can declare that i gave it some thought!*

Yes, maybe I can position the key light nearer and lower its power, hence reducing the bounce spill.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Haven't been doing light painting in a while...

took this with vivitar 105 macro with flash and diffusers. Plus Monopod as a means of support.

Wow! You shot a vampire! Anopheles mosquito!
Careful as these are the Dengue fever carrier.

Yup, Aedes Mosquitos but looks like a male species that took saps of plants. Huge in size about half an inch in length.
