Nice shot!

Perhaps too little is showing in this shot.
Silhouette is not strong enough to pull off as a silhouette shot;
Not enough details in the buildings to show off as a more conventional shot.

I'd suggest lifting the shadows to show off the buildings or do a hdr/blending.

Thkx bro...i know what u mean. For the original shot i jus brighten the area around the sunrise then gradually from bright to almost dark thats what my concept. I will redo another one and see how its feels. Thx bro.

Like the effect of exposure in 2nd photo, love to be able to take such effect.
How does one get the right exposure on the fore ground when the sun is setting or rising in such wide difference in lighting conditions ?
I know of the HDR but I do not l.ike the fake looking finish but your's definitely not HDR and I like the effect.

Thanks in advance.

Some panoramas taken with my trusty K5 and Tamron 10-24 combo.. From my recent Bangkok trip.

Will be posting more here progressively when I get around to processing them: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/land-city-scapes-travel/1233161-[edutilos]-bangkok-density.html

Consistently fantastic shots.

You do more (indirectly) with your photos for Pentax than the marketing from the distro. :D

Thanks bro, glad they work for you.

Hey Philip, it is actually HDR using the exposure fusion function in Ptgui when stitching the panorama.. I actually use a lot of Exposure Fusion these days and it is very natural looking. In any case, even if you don't use HDR, the K5's DR would be sufficient to pull out the shadow details for the foreground there. The reason is because I wasn't shooting *into* the sun, the sun is on the right, so it would not be backlit and the difference in exposure would not be that great. All you need to do is use layers --> Duplicate the Layer, set Layer type to screen, erase with a soft brush to reveal that part, set Layer Opacity to taste. This is just one way, another way is to use shadow/highlight recovery tool in PS... Many ways to skin a cat...! :)

Hi edutilos, Thanks,

Looks like I got to go read up more about this Exposure Fusion and get a proper PP software to do what you said about layering.
I have a Kr and highlight shadow adjust on the iPhoto could not recover as good as this.

Hi Philip,

You don't have Photoshop? That would give you a lot more flexbility. Layers are the most powerful tool of Photoshop imho. Even an old version will serve you well. :) An alternative is GIMP but I find it a lot less intuitive/user-friendly, but I've been using PHotoshop all along so it could be old habit..

requesting for edutilos to show us one day how to do this layering thing on photoshop for landscape shots

i find ur shots very tasty and would like to try the same ;p

Great shot. Never thought of Bangkok as a place for landscapes shots. But this has proven me wrong.
Thanks Ahren. Actually I think it's pretty good. I have a strong preference for modern scenes (i.e. not-London, but I will make do if that's all there is) but at the same time, many of Bangkok's temples are really beautiful and elaborate. You should also check them out too if you have the chance. I didn't have the time to schedule in a visit or two, since some of the nice temples are a bit off the track and not located close to train stations..

Sure, if there are any of those PP workshops in the future and my schedule permits, I'll be more than happy to run through the process quickly. It's really not that hard and can be done quite fast once you get used to it.

Perhaps can ask APD to help organize a landscape workshop featuring our award winning pentaxians: edutilos and supersimon, sure many people will join ;)
