Still very preliminary, but I've got to say that I'm quite taken aback by what this camera has the potential for.

wow look good...

Thanks.
I was a bit afraid that I had spend my money on a 'dud' personal theory that the 5.5 crop would work for macros, but ended up to be real satisfied with what the camera can do. :)

I tried the same shot with the F100/2.8 macro on my K5, and the spider only fills up about 25% of the frame.
Better DOF from the Q too for the same FOV.

There are a few quirks working at such extreme focal lengths (its an equivalent 550mm f2.8 macro lens).
But its never easy at such magnifications of any type of setup (ie. FF, APS-C, etc).

Yup! Finally did it after talking about it for so long.
Its also strangely the only camera that I could not forget about.

Unfortunately flash sync is an abysmal 1/15 with any 3rd party adapter, so I had to try out at home using 2 table lamps.
It was late when I got to play with the setup, so I went downstairs to get a 'victim' to test on. :D

Now that I know that the system works, I will go ahead to purchase a video type LED lamp for the purpose. (do you have any recommendation for something that can still give 1/200 f8, ISO no more than 400? )

Randy, thanks.
This is what I have in mind.
Yeah, don't know if its going to be bright enough....

Desmond, thanks.
Its a fun camera :) , I just wish they'd release the official adapter that has a built in shutter.

lower pierce reservoir Sun-set 6/7/12 :)

Thks for viewing :)

I like this one a lot.

And you must have been up darn early!

thanks, glad you like it. raining on most mornings when i was there but it does create opportunities for interesting scenes.

this was taken at around 6am (vietnam time). rain was quite heavy and i had to shoot under shelter. was probably up since 4.30am as this was when I came back to hanoi from Lao Cai via overnight train.

More explorations of the world of the small with the Q.

Pentax Q; F100/2.8 macro at f5.6 (cropped slightly, about 1/10 of the full frame)

much better focus and shake free shots using multi-shot+tripod.
Getting the subject into the FOV is a pain at such extreme focal length.

Looks like another nice place to go (Pentaxian Outing?? )
I'm a bit put off by the "one dollar ah... one dollar... ah tee, uncle one dollar; photo also one dollar.... " though....
Seems over commercialized, till everyone is corrupted by it.
Do share how the trip was planned and costs if convenient, thanks
