Looks like another nice place to go (Pentaxian Outing?? )
I'm a bit put off by the "one dollar ah... one dollar... ah tee, uncle one dollar; photo also one dollar.... " though....
Seems over commercialized, till everyone is corrupted by it.
Do share how the trip was planned and costs if convenient, thanks

Thanks JK , we actually follow the itinerary from a previous group also from clubsnap that visit cambodia during march period . We hire the same guide too . It cost us USD 280 for the local transport with guide for 4 days 3 nights. :) Anyone need the itinerary can pm me :)

Sharing 2 more tonight .

#43 Dusk at Tonlé Sap. - After our boat ride we are greet with a wonderful dusk light at the harbour . Unfortunately we doesn't have our tripod with us and got to shoot with hand held shots. F5 0.3 of a second ISO 800

More explorations of the world of the small with the Pentax Q!

My first attempt doing macros outdoors with the Q+100mm macro combo.
Before that, I though I would be limited by the 1/15 max sync speed and needed fixed lights.
At first, I found myself cursing at the 1/15 max sync speed with a 3rd party adapter.
"WTH! all the photos were blurred"
Then I realized my mistake that I was trying to take the photos under the Sun, and the f8-f16 I was using was not enough to close out the ambient light.
Moved to a shaded spot where only the flash would contribute and added a tripod, then the world of the small was revealed to me.....

Now, some may ask.
Why don't I just use a pns like a LX5 with a Raynox.
I'd free myself from the 1/15 max flash sync speed and get CDAF too.
The difference is in the focusing range that the Q+macro lens affords.
A pns+close up filter can only focus within the focusing range of the close up filter.
The Q+100mm macro lens can focus at any range from infinity to minimum focus distance, becoming a 550mm for skittish insects and a super macro for very small one. All at one go.

Like an old submariner with his new bathysphere, I try to venture a bit deeper into the world of small creatures.
The Q+100mm macro is like my vessel into the macro world.

I had a limited 45mins before needing to rush home to the usual chores.
Forgot the LCD loupe and fresh batteries for the flash.
This time I tried to venture a bit nearer to 1:1, but scared off a few good opportunities in my haste.
The flash went out of juice after a few shots....

This is probably a crop off 40% of the image. I had a 1:1 version, but not enough DOF to cover from segmented eyes to mouth.

This one taken with 12s timer and no flash (since it was flat... )

Far from 1:1. Scared this one off within one pop of the flash.

I've been sticking to f8 so far due to fear of diffraction on the small sensor, but it seems that not enough DOF may be an issue at 1:1 distances.
I think the only way to find out will be to try....
(anyway, I doubt sharpness will drop off like a steep cliff at f11, f16)

Learning macro too with the K30 and a sigma 105, which i opted over the pentax WR due to price. here are some results, albeit with a poorly made diffuser, have to source for other material

i tried this lens w a m43 cam before, and i prefer the DOF actually, might consider getting the Q as it seems to be getting v good results:)

Lawrence, so you actually did buy this combo. As you were mentioning during the last outing.
