Photos taken by Pentax cameras for tech. discussion - Season I

Finally back for good. :)

Working on getting selected photos up, but here's three meantime..

The friendly lady gave us directions to the church. Her family raises pigs and pigeons -- a somewhat odd combination -- which wander freely around the farm. | Maliana, Timor Leste

'Tis a long and winding walk uphill. The Portuguese-era church seems to be in good condition -- a vividly coloured mural of a radiant Jesus painted outside -- but the locked doors prevented us from having a look at the interior. | Maliana, Timor Leste

Boys running starkers and diving off a breakwater. | Dili, Timor Leste

After the year-long stint there, I've come to appreciate and settle on this permanent lens set: DA21, FA43, DA70. For their size, portability and optics. No more LBA! Hooray! ;-)

Alvan, good to know you're back for good. Your slice of life images from your stint in East Timor is just so refreshing.

Just did this a couple of minutes ago since today Full Moon

Pentax K-X, Tamron 18-200, 200mm, f6.3, 1/320, ISO200
Cropping (quite a bit), minimal PP, HANDHELD
Taken out of my window on 13th floor. Lazy to set up tripod, balanced lens on window grill.

And you were so close to it! Man ... pentaxians are fearless.

Lawrence, nice closeup of the viper. I guess you are able to answer to your missus that this trip's been worthwhile.

like that staring at me?;)

Tried to shoot macro without macro lens this evening. I used Tamron SP 70-210mm f3.5 19AH with Raynox DCR-150. The lens itself has magnification ratio 1:2.6 at 210mm. I shot mostly at 180mm, dunno what is the total magnification ratio, perhaps almost 1:1. I feel that dof is more shallow compared to using 1:1 100mm macro lens at same aperture, working distance is about the same.

I tried to get sharp pictures of a sky full of stars (no star trails), but even with the settings pushed to the limits I still feel that the stars don't show up as brightly as what other people get. Eg: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=779276 The settings I used for my shot was ISO1600, f2.8, 20s. And the stars were brightened up in PP already. Anyone has tried taking pics like this? Or am I just looking at the wrong part of the sky?

Cool set! Real documentary style

Gengh,

Those shots remind us of refreshing air over there. We only have recycled air over here.:D:bsmilie: and recycled water.

Beautiful shots:thumbsup:

Thanks marcus! It's not so bad in SG lah, at least got lots of nice bugs to shoot. :) I've almost completely stopped shooting macros after coming to Florida.
