Just to share a shot of this raptor while looking to shoot some cuckoo birds.
The id of this bird is Oriental Honey Buzzard. :)

:D thanks for the critique.

not to justify myself but there's a reason for the flaws and i'm working on it ;)

sharpness - subject was in an awkward position and partially covered by a leaf from certain angles. i could have gotten better sharpness if i could align my camera parallel to the subject but i would have to poke it and hope that it doesn't fly away... it was night... i wouldn't be able to find it again if it flew :sweat:

lighting - flash was mounted on hotshoe. light was directed downwards through a soft-box. overall, lighting was not sufficiently diffused - ring flash on the way.

subject - its also my first time encountering it. its quite a rare creature ;)

lens - buy buy buy :devil:

Screw drive AF is fast enough to catch birds in flight (ISO400, 1/3200s, f5.6)

Looks like there is no shadow or very2 minimal.

count me in, i also got one!! very power, can light up subject even at f32-stop iso 100 :rbounce:

agree... its very powderful :bsmilie: i shot a few at F32 ISO 80 also :thumbsup:

i keep having niggling thoughts about diffraction lah... must do more testing to ascertain the impact.
