This lens is great for outdoor and studio work, also.
Very sharp to the edge and it give very good angle for photoshot.

Happy CNY to you as well :)

Very beautiful model and shot. Thanks for sharing

No pretty model to shoot.

But I found an interesting model yesterday :D

K5 with FA135 and reversed A50/2; Bounced flash from large flash card. 1/125; f32

Never thought I'd ever use f32, but the very shallow DOF with this setup certainly needs it. I think I have to try a shorter FL (maybe back to 85mm) to get more DOF.

Bro, looks like the 31 is calling out to you . . . I stopped liao. No $$$ so can look but not get affected.

But bro , you like got 2 out of the 3 liao .... Y not complete the full set :p

I though above f16 will have diffraction effect and become soft, but yours looks sharp from my monitor. Did you shoot using tripod?

i had the same thinking until i got my new flash... i was hampered from using anything above F16 because of insufficient light, not because of diffraction.

but i've actually got o.k. results at F22...

ISO: 80 | Exposure: 1/180 | Aperture: 22.0

the effect might be very slight and not as alarming as we're led to believe

For absolute sharpness probably so. But there are a few factors/decisions :
1. It was between better DOF or 'lack of apparent sharpness' due to insufficient DOF
2. Photos are usually viewed at normal viewing sizes and f11-32 photos will still be very sharp enough. No point to pixel peep
3. The spider was already magnified enough. There is no need to rely on cropping to get more magnification, so it does not need to be pixel peeping sharp wrt f8 or lower.

my few cents

Sharing some pics taken from the Thailand birding trip.
It's a totally different birding experience as we were in the birding hide waiting for birds to appear.
Just 1 day b4 the trip I found shuttle cable release the AF not working.

#1 Rufious Tailed Robin
Lighting condition was challenging as it was dark with few spots of direct harsh sunlight.
500mm, F4.5, 1/320s, iso 800

#2 White Rumped Shama (female)
This shot is much easier though the iso is alot higher.
500mm, F4.5, 1/320s, iso 2500

#3 Chestnut headed Bee-eater
500mm, F4.5, 1/400s, iso 80, -0.70ev
2v9eno5.jpg

#4 Siberian Blue Robin
This shot I risked at slower shutter speed to reduce high iso, so I used mirror-lockup + cable release
500mm, F4.5, 1/40s, iso 800

Have also posted some at World OF Nature Forum:

btw some of my Canon frens (7D, 5D, 1D) have posted this same bird but the colors are different?

Cool stuff, Kengoh! Looks like the waiting in the hide paid off pretty well. I would like to try birding in a bird hide too, but not dedicated enough to spend that kind of time and resources yet. :bsmilie:

The colour difference is probably just due to the different sensor response and the PP you applied? As long as you're happy with your colours can already...
