what results you are not happy with?
i'm not sure why after stacking,
the resulting photo looks kinda oversharpened..
and i gues its due to the diffuser i'm using, the lighting is quite harsh,
can see from the legs, some parts are bright, but some are still pretty dark..

evo, you should start with the end in mind. which part of the subject you want to be sharp, eg head, body or wing or a combo of the above. then select the photo you want and stack. start with an end in mind and you will be able to manage your expectation better. of course, all this advice is on the assumption you can get similar copy of the same subject with different depth of field.

dont worry, try more and you will get the hang of it. and better result.

post note: the over-sharpened area (near the wings and legs) like "halo" is due to imperfect alignment. you can pp those away but take time.

thanks. #1 is actually not that sharp... slightly OOF.

actually crab spider is not an easy subject. CS is tough due to its white and low contrast body and the small target area of the brown patch between the eyes. another one i find difficult to shoot is mantis.

today must be my mixed luck day. lucky cos i managed to find a third AMS and shoot a sharp photo of a bee in AMK park. unlucky cos i left my key in the boot before unlocking the doors of my car. got to go home to fetch the spare key. :sweatsm:

These 2 shots with the greenish BG makes the crab spider stands out... Nice.

If you can eliminate the shadows, the compound eyes will be the centre of attention and its sharp, thats where the focus of the image right?

I have not try stacking yet. can't advise on that. Try many shots of variable setting ie increase aperture or shutter speed of the same subjects and compare. You will gather more info and have better knowledge from here.;)

Macro is taking 10 shots and maybe one shot is nice and balance to be discarded.:bsmilie:

The joy of having a beautiful shot outweights the inconvenience of going back to collect your spare key of your car. Great capture. Nice lighting.
