This is the 2 times I encountered this. 1st was from my Iomega, now LG.

sorry evq I can't help you as I can't ID this thing. I recommend you to send an enquiry to LG with this pic. This rubber thing must be a need for the writer or else the LG people won't put extra thing inside. Check with you first.
