Hi guys, i'll be back in singapore for a week this sat and i'll like to ask about three items.
The first is the Pentax O-ME53 magnifying eyepiece thingy. Where can i get it and how much can i expect to pay?
The second is an angle viewfinder for the k100d (like these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/shop/11366/Accessories_for_Viewfinders_Finders.html). What one or two that work with the k100d, and again where and how much?
Lastly, i'm also looking for a shutter release (wired)

The DA*s should be available today from MS and other shops. No specific prices mentioned but they are very likely to be lower than $1459 and $1699 quoted at COMEX

hrm, wa, $920, that's $50 more than when i bought my k100d proper
anyways, i hate dust
maybe next year when i come back i might upgrade to k100d super
then mod my current k100d to become ir only =) =) =)

That was the cheapest I could find.:dunno: Is it overpriced? :sweat:

I looked in Funan, PP and SLS, in that order. But some shops including J3:16 and CP at PP were closed, it being Sunday. At Funan, all were quoting SG$980-1125 incl GST, for the K100d super kit (no SD cards or freebies) and what's worse, many did not even have it or the K10D in stock.:sweat:

Finally went to SLS asked around a bit and decided to get it. Tired of walking and price-hunting. Another problem was that i was also considering the D40X and the 400D so had to comparison shop for the best deal within my budget.


Actually, if you don't mind high ISO noise, then the Sony alpha is REALLY attractive price-wise. SG$899 (incl GST) for body only, and SG$1099 (incl GST) for the kit-I. :bigeyes: and that too at the SOny gallery in Funan...maybe able to get it cheaper elsewhere. But long term costs with Sony accessories may be too high...I don't know for sure..just a guess.

trust me, you didn't make a mistake, unless you really must have megapixels
i've used the 400d before, didn't impress me
d40x means expensive lenses in future, blah
same goes for alpha 100, most of the time

$920 is a fantastic price, in fact, OP is more expensive considering its a grey set...so far any problem ??

So, far no problems. It's not a gray set, so it comes with the warranty card (Distributor: Shriro) and 1 year intl warranty.

SG$920 is only for the camera + kit lens. Nothing else included (edit: i.e. nothing apart from the standard contents of the camera kit. It contains usb cable, video cables, lens hood, CD-Roms etc)

Cards, filters etc I purchased separately. Havent got a tripod yet. Need to look into the correct brand/model.

Most importantly, I need to get the 50/1.4 prime. ;p

Can anyone advise on where this lens is available currently and what price currently (price guide says SG$330)? Is it difficult to find? May go get it this weekend.

Saw a copy at MS (blk 711) few days ago together with DA21, DFA50macro, 10-17 fisheye, 12-24 etc. Check if they still have it.

I am more than happy with 6 mp, so no complaints there.

D40X was a difficult decision because the image quality from that camera is very good, but the limited feature set, and expensive set of lenses really kills the deal for me.

EOS400D....has ergonomic issues as far as I am concerned. Ofcourse the advantage is the wide range of lenses available.

But both were lower priority than K100DS/K10D which I was looking for; so I am lucky to have got the better deal on the pentax compared to the C&N.

K100D is awesome wrt build quality and doesnt have the ergonomic drawbacks of the canon for me. My biggest gripe after 2 days of ownership is that it doesnt have a dedicated ISO button on the body. That would have been nice.

SD cards are so dirt cheap I think its about time they consider switching to bundling with 4GB Sandisk Extreme cards instead. BTW, I called Tamron local agent and they said they have ordered the 18-250 for Pentax mount. Supposed to arrive in the next 6-8 weeks...wah..what a wait! Price is supposed to be in the 800ish but final price may be different. I hope it comes in time for when I need to use it.
