Somebody bought a K10D + 18-55 kit lens + lowepro bag (not sure what model) + extra battery + Kingston 2Gb SD + for $1490+ from CP.

that would be me.. and it's actually S$1499 (plus 5% GST before 1st july 2007)

it's really a very good buy!!

i should have gotten the 55-200mm that time too.. it's good bundle price

it was actually a few days after GST increased to 7%... they even offered the BG2 for $199 if purchased together. I was surprised by the good price and shocked that it was CP. I've never had any good pricing from them, always walked in, ask price, walked out and buy elsewhere.

Latest e-mail price from CP:

Pentax K10D Body @S$1250.00
Free: 1 GB SD card

Pentax K10D with 18-55 kit lens @S$1428.00
Free: 2 GB SD card, bag and DL150 battery

Pentax K100D only sold with 18-55 kit lens @S$1080.00
Free: 1 GB SD card and bag

Maybe they tell that in email, but when you go there, you have to remind them this price because it's not the first one they tell you.

Anyway, I could get my K10d @ 1250S$ before GST at CP after 2 sales man and pricing printing of Clubsnap.

If this is with kit lens, its a pretty good price...

Today I got quoted $980 for Sigma 10-20mm in AP, quite sickening, even after I told them another shop quoted me $800, and even then that was $70 above what I was quoted.

Then the guy there asked me: "The other shop got stock or not?"

Wah piang, got stock means can anyhow chop carrot head isit, I wait 2 weeks also won't let them earn $250 just for having stock right, blardy hell.

ah beng shop is like that. Sigma think get OP better lah, at least if the lens is not sharp, it'll be easier to ask for exchange than from local shops

Haha, yeah, international warranty too.

Oh well, waiting on them to call me, luckily I call them again; the first time the dude answered and refused to give me the pricing or a rough gauge of when it would be in, probably eating lunch so a bit bo chup. Second time at least I got my number taken down, still trust them the most, heh.

Almost compromised and grabbed the 16-45 after the OP attitude (first time round) and AP attitude, bah. But 15mm (with crop factor) versus 24mm (with crop factor) really quite different leh. =D

This is true though - many shops give unrealistic prices when they have no stock.

I don't even bother with AP. Just buy straight from OP, at least they will have stock and confirmed can get it, no infinite waiting times.

Why you never give killer stare at AP? :sweatsm: Seriously, if there is a chance to chop, they will. BTW did you consider the 12-24mm? The Sigma is wider but I believe vignetting at the widest end is an issue. Best go OP ...or go HK.

Pentax 12-24?

Or Sigma 12-24? =D

Ahhh, vignetting.. Yes, it is there, will be present if you use filters, which I do.. But I guess I'm used to vignetting from kit lens already, so should be no problem removing.

I'm thinking I should be getting 70-300 Macro instead of the 50 f/1.4; there are a lot of UK sellers on eBay selling the manual version at very affordable pricings. =D

personally, i don't really like AP (peninsular plaza)
i went there to get my Dry Cabi the last time with Nightmare, and frankly, i didn't really like the sales person:confused:

if you ask me, OP has got new sales person, possibly because they are around my age and friendlier.

another place would be CP (peninsular) and of coz John 3:16 (very very polite and helpful and hyper active.. :sticktong )

if you are the 'service' kind of ppl, you'd go to the shops with slightly higher prices, but good services. Coz you know that the after service is good..

I meant the Pentax/Tokina 12-24mm. The Sigma 12-24 is the older full frame rectilinear WA, which you might have problems putting a filter on due to the curvature of the front element. Watch the shipping from the UK, esp if the item is heavy. Can be a little pricey.

Yep, I know, slrgear.com mentioned that it needed gelatin filters, have no idea what it is, so reject the idea of getting the Sigma 12-24.

Wince, Pentax 12-24 is above 1K based on the earlier posts in this thread, way out of budget. With the difference I can get the Sigma 70-300 (~$295).. Bang for buck first for a poor student. =D

Any idea of the Tokina 12-24 pricing/availability? The only minus point I can see on my side about the Sigma 10-20 so far is the fact that it is not IR friendly. But oh well, can always keep the kit lens for IR only. =)

You can't get the tokina 12-24 in pentax mount..

Vulp1x0r around?
Just a suggestion: Maybe can date stamp the prices.
So we can at least know if some of the entries are potentially out-dated.

Too much work for me to do that.... If someone else willing to do that for me please go ahead.
