I think I was quoted something like $650 for the 18-250mm... but my second lens would be the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. And it is a bit expensive now..$620...

Price for the two Tamron lenses sounds about right. If there is immediate stock for the 17-50mm, I'd get it straight away if I were you so that you'll have a usable lens
Which retailer was that? Most likely a mistake, that sounds more like the price for the Tamron 18-200mm

Ya, I am tempted to get the 17-50mm immediately ;p But I would think 18-250 is my immediate need. And probably a 10-20 Sigma too.

The $450 set from your link doesnt come with warranty. If you buy from a retail shop it comes with 3 years local warranty.
Hi, you are right about this guy. I think it used item but strange that it has no warranty as i know this lens is not too old. So by right it should have some warranty months left. May be its an import set? Anyway i decided to buy a new one to pamper my k7 .. Hee hee

3rd party lenses are very rarely sharp wide open, same for cheaper Pentax lenses (which are more expensive than 3rd party equivalent).
so with regards to this 17-50, it will not be very sharp wide open. but by f5.6 this lens is really sharp..for this price it's a staple lens for many.
i only use it at f2.8 if i need that speed without flash.
Wah, you also got yourself a K7. Cannot resist the good deal, right? For me, I only have a manual Pentax.

I am crazy, just got the A500 2 weeks before, then now the K7. I like all my cams...and hope they do not fight each other in the shared dry cabinet homes. :bsmilie: N and P staying in one house, C and P another house... just divorced with O. :think:
