Pentax Luna New Year Promotion - K-7 for $13xx, Twin WR Kit Lenses for $439SGD!

thanks for the info dude! will consider heh.. first off, to a weekend getaway to thoroughly test this baby

Better sell it (if it's still working) instead of trading it in. You can trade any junk camera for a new K7, with some top up of course ;)

Welcome to Pentax family btw.

oh, sure. will post to sell in the sony classified too. Thanks! looking forward to join the pentax family. :P

Do check if you can get to the "initial settings" page when you first on it. Mine didn't...

finally gotten my fingerprints all over my new toy last night... yeah mine started out at the initial settings page when i switch on for the first time but unfortunately the batt was flat so cant test it out much...

It seems like pentax lenses price has gone up alot recently. Their cost advantage over their canikon counterparts seem to have been eroded? Also, the DA 16-50mm seems to have QC issues till today, or am I outdated? Anyone here has that lens? Thanks!

It's only really the price of the FA 50mm that has gone up a lot, the rest have mostly been stable or gone up a bit with the Yen (like other brands have also).

Think we have several DA* 16-50mm owners here. There's a few complaints about the SDM on pentaxforums but the ones in Singapore mostly seem to be ok. See http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=415109

I currently owned few of the SDM lenses including the DA*16-50, till date it have been working fine (knock knock - wood). Probably, the QC issues you read have been fixed.

Frankly, I find the SDM lenses are wonderful lenses, fast and quiet. I am a Canon user too, I would think it is comparable to some of the L lenses I owned and cost lot cheaper, the cost advantage is still there.

How I wish Canon have a 50-135mm f2.8 lens :)

Ah thanks. Got a quote of $1231 from SLR revo for the 16-50mm recently, which seems quite high, so i was wondering.

I got mine on Sunday at SLR for $1339, and called Emjay today. Dual lenses definitely in this week; and will be likely available by Friday at SLR. Mine are booked. I bought the 40mm f2.8 limited and bloody expensive at $500+. Anyway, if no lens how? I wanted the 50mm f1.4; but not available. So bokeh not strong; but good for this coming CNY family reunion lah. O btw, it is VERY difficult to take up the SD card. It is not so smooth. It doesn't come out easily; likely because it ensures you don't lose it, if you happen to turn it with the SD card facing the ground. Beware. It isn't a fault. You just have to pull it out straight; and takes a bit of strength.

Congrats on your purchase, and enjoy. So you're using the K-7 with the DA40mm mounted right? Should be good enough for now, just that you may occasionally not be able to fit everything you want into the frame.

Yup; I needed the practice. I m not sure what to do with my Fuji Finepix sf100fs (28-400mm) bridge. It serves me very well. Someone suggested as a backup camera. Wow... rather big to carry two around. Anyway, unsure of its 2nd hand value. Any help? It is a great camera.

Ahem!! Make me an offer I cannot refuse!!! :p

VanGogh53 and Henrywoo1978,

Congrats on your purchase. You will have many happy experiences with the K7 :D

Re the SD card, it is a characteristic of this cam. It will free up a little after you have inserted and ejected the card a number of times. Mind you, it will still be a stiff but nothing to worry about.

Maybe someone wanna do a roll call for K7 and KX user...... good to have the listing and when time for gathering or any new updates, just PM to them one shot..... but whatever it is, from the look of things.... sales for KX and K7 really break the sales record just this 1 to 2 months......

Got my K7 at OP for $1360 using credit card but no trade in of old camera. I have booked the Tamron 18-250 but would take 2 weeks to come. Sigh, now no lens to play with.
