Promo is applicable to body only. AP has no kit lens available for sale either but their price slight (by that i mean VERY slight) more competitive if paid in cash

I think if you can spare some $$, you should skip the kit lens and maybe want to consider getting a better lens to go with the K-7, e.g. 17-70mm f4 SDM, I think it is the ideal focal length and walk about lens giving you 26-105mm equivalent of the 35mm format, which give you a wide angle to telephoto portrait range. The DA*16-50 f2.8 would be a little too expensive.

Check this, very nice weight and proportion to K-7, very quiet SDM and focus really fast. Only one downside no WR. I do come across some bad reviews on SDM failures in general, so far all my lenses SDM seems ok (knock knock wood).

p.s. If you really want a kit lens for a start I can offer you my brand new unused DA L 18-55 kit lens (bought with my K-x) for $80

at the moment, I use mainly to shoot my 3years old kid.... not too happy with the D200 high ISO performance..... even at 800 dont look good to me.... .... wanted to go D300S/D700... but looking at my shooting pattern, just dont wish to spend too much on body.... rather on lens......

So, any equivalent (good) lens from Pentax for the following focal length:

1.35mm (I use this mainly indoor to shoot my kid)
2. Probablky the FA77 can take the place of the 50mm-85mm???
3. 17-55mm (general walk around)... or the Tamron 17-55mm better???
4. wide angle think can use Tokina 11-16??? Anyone try K7 with this lens
5. Macro lens (100mm)
6. External Flash (which model or Pentax only 1 trype)
7. 3. 70-200 range.... (not so critical now at leat... seldom use this range)

For external flash there is also the lower end Pentax AFZ360 and even lower the AFZ200 series. Budgeting becomes less of an issue with pentax as lens prices are lower but not that much due to high yen!

I called 2 shop in Sim Lim ... according to them ... trade in any camera , old or new ... and K-7 body only will be cost at $1499 .. that's all ..

I plan to trade my SX1IS and hope that can buy lower than 1499, maybe around $1k-$1.2 k then I can add some money to buy lens too ... total spend will be around 1.5k to 1.8k ....

He answer that high or low end camera, they will take but the offer still 1499 ...

I also ask if the camera that trade is "high-end" one , is 1499 is inclu with basic lens ... answer is NO ...

you can sell your SX1IS on b&s for such amount to top up for k-7, All I know that OP could go down to 1400 without trade in. (refer this thread posted earlier)

Newbie to CS. Have been researching to buy a camera for about a month and would have bought EP2 last week, until I saw this thread. So hold back and now seriously considering to get K7. My son has a very old G5 that had not been working for a while, so there is an old camera to trade in.

Problem is I am worried if I am able to confidently used this camera. I am 57 year old. Those who have used Pentax can advise? Next, what lens to get first?
