Why don't you try to pool a list of buyers.
See if that can leverage one of the shops to give a little bit extra stuff.

Eg.
Say you got 7ppl.
Thats almost $11K of business for that shop.
They close the deal, they walk away with $11K, and the folks get a better deal.
Else, everyone buy here and there and they at most sell 2-3 cameras.

HK so low price for silver edition, S$1774 , hard to believe, doe it come with silver BG-5 ?
Just asked a shop at Funan today, K3 Silver edition with Silver BG-5 , S$19XX.

Hk already have black and silver model available to sell......and photo samples look good..... www.dchome.net also has pentax forum

Black body selling around hk$8500

Silver body selling around hk$11000

Exchange rate : 1:6.2

Yes, it does come with silver BG-5......

The Black K5 with 18-135 cost HK$103XX.....only which mean the 18-135 lens cost HK$2000.....pretty good deal.

I am also thinking of buying it from HK when I go back later this year......probably one main reason to do so......

Haha! I am not master leh, so virus already in me after handling it at Ya Kun meet up. I managed to get the silver virus out of my mind yesterday, the K3 Black still inside. Can you imagine if silver HD lens go with black K3 ?

Its not mass sales or order.
Its just a pool of interested buyers to get negotiation power.

Why not we wait until it's out in the shop first and see how? Maybe we can get better price if we go all together? But if the price is already pretty low, better just buy straight instead of trying to bargain down a few $. The retailers still need to make money.

And to be honest, it's not fair to compare price in HK where there is no tax, and most electronic stuff are much cheaper there. Why don't we compare with prices in the UK or Europe? I think the best price reference is still from countries like the US, plus shipping and tax, that's where we should look at.

I saw ppl sold at around $450 & i was thinking i can't bear to sell my immaculate condition $1583 K-5 body at that price, might as well keep to use as 2nd body...

Good idea, till it comes out in store maybe we setup a thread or something and pick a date and time go down to shop and nego on bundle and price. Yup retailers need to earn but they could have make abit more if not for that crap GST.

I believe K3 is the most talked about and most wanted DSLR for Pentax community, the distributor and retailers should make full good use of this, n get as many units into the hands of the Pentax users n fans at irresistible price package.
