Whether buying camera makes one poorer or not is subjective.I used to modify car, and the amount of dough I spent on it could have set up a camera shop and hired few shop assistances.To me,photography is more affordable, more rewarding , even changing bodies and lens now and then.Therefore, it depends on individual. dun flame me ,just share share experience: )

Agree, poor is also subjective. Buy a good camera will make u poorer in financial, but richer in user experience. Remember your money is not yours until u (get to) spend it. Maituliao, buy buy buy

Well, is it really necessary to go through your CFO for every purchase?
Mine doesn't ask me what I buy or how much I pay for my toys nowadays. She knows I'm gonna buy them one way or the other, otherwise I won't sleep well. She'd rather I have good sleep instead of some extra money in bank
As long as you don't spend beyond your means, just buy it if you think you need or want it.

Haha! for me getting approval means having a good reason.
in 2013 bought Q10 in Mar for CFO travel, GR for compactness in July, Sep bought K2 for sudden interest in film, Nov to buy K3 if not cannot sleep Haha!

U need a reason ? I could help u. Not 1, but 3 reasons.
Wealth - if u do not buy k3, u can not sleep well. when u do not have enough sleep, you job performance is affected and hence the year end bonus.
Health - when u do not have good sleep, your immune system are weak. And your blood pressure tend to raise a bit higher than normal.
Love - You tend to have a bad mood. your temper get worse and easily get angry that might lose sight of your family.
