Will Shriro service the lens if it is purchased from overseas?

Yes, definitely. But probably won't be free ;)

Not sure how much it takes to service a lens, but judging from the prices in Singapore, I would've gotten it from US, and still be paying a significant amount lesser. That difference (which for me is quite a lot, cos of the price I got it at) would make up the probable 'fee' I would need of Shriro. A risk I took.

But having owned it for close to 1.5 months, and my intuition tells me that the lens that definitely lasted me for > 1 year without major issues (provided I don't sell it off).
Not forgeting that if the lens has any issues after the 1 year warranty, you may still end up paying..

I think Shriro will service it for free if you have international warranty..
For Pentax Lens and Camera bought in US, you can request from Pentax USA for the international warranty.
They will mail it to your local mailing address.
I got my K10D with Kit Lens and DA50-200mm frm US. I just email the provide of purchase and item, serial no and model no etc Pentax USA will process and mail me the international warranty in abt 1-2wks time.

Hope this info helps those that r concerned abt warranty if buying frm US.

May I know which US site did you purchase the products from? From what I know B&H doesn't provide international warranty.

I got it from Adorama and Amazon.
US Merchants will not provide you with the International Warranty.
U need to email Pentax US directly to provide them with the necessary information.
Then Pentax US will process and send you the International Warranty.

Please note that it doesnt have anything to do with the US Merchant that you purchase the items from.

Hope this clarifies any doubts..

Thank you so much for the sharing and response.

Will there be any extra cost incur? Am I right to say that you asked Pentax US to convert the US warranty to international warranty?

Thanks for showing these images, Frank.

I had been hesitant whether to get this zoom or not as I hardly have faith in big zoom like this one.

It seems like a good option for travel light

I will get the international warranty from Pentax USA for my K10D body and Pentax 18-250mm lens after they are delivered to Singapore by B&H. Cheers!

Not too sure about the convertion part. As they didnt ask me to mail back the US warranty that comes wif my K10D and lenses.

Cheers...

Hello, every Pentaxians

I ask you something regarding these lenses. Are these supported by "Image Stablizer" or "Anti-Blur" like Canon lense 70-200mm "IS" USM that IS can lessen blur? Please advise me but forgive me for being ignorant. Thank you.;p

Pentax uses in-body Shake Reduction, "SR", so you do not need to get specific lenses to enjoy this feature - you have it with every lens you own, including the vintage ones!

With the Pentax K20D, K200D, K10D, K100D Super and K100D DSLRs, EVERY LENS that is attached to the camera enjoys the benefits of Shake Reduction.

Pentax employs an in-body image stabilization system that works no matter if the lens is the latest AF lens, or a K bayonet mount manual focus lens or even older M42 screw mount lenses. The system is backward compatible with no issues. With an in-body image stabilization system, you do not have to spend large amounts of money on expensive stabilized lenses. The system works very well that most of us leave it on most of the time.

oh yeah, i keep forgetting to ask, don't think i have yet -

is the lens good for ir? hot spotting etc.. :) if it's too much trouble to test due to lack of filter (notice that the filter thread is different from 18-55 kit) then it's alright.. :)

Hi, Gengh and Creampuff

thank you for your valuable advices regarding lenses. I understand that K10 or K100D has built in Shake Reduction that is no problem for less blur images.

I believe Shirio will release K20D at IT Show tmw. If possible, I want to test and see if it is better than Canon 40D?
