Hope it can zoom while filming video

Not holding my breath on the 12800 ISO. I don't even find 800 acceptable on the LX3, using basically the same sensor.

ISO 400 is already a bit noisy, not to say ISO 800.

yes, agreed ... Lx3 still can run for 2 more years at seem ... unless Pana do something better.

Yeah, unless the upgrade from LX3 to LX5 is significant then it's worth considering. Similarly from iPhone 3GS to 4 as compared from 3G to 3GS, just to state an example.

On the second glance i am kind of disappointed with the specs of LX5 sort of pinning quite high hope on the improvements. Afterall if there are maintaining the outlook size, i bet there is limitation to the SW and PCBs platform in design.

I second that. Most of the specs are similar to LX3.

lx3 is a outstanding procomsumer camera. too high specs, it will become gf1

Ah well... I guess I'll hold onto my LX-3 as well... :)

I'll also hold on to my LX3, somemore only bought on dec 5th last year.

They skipped the '4' to '5' so I thought the improvements will be significant, but disappointingly not at all.

Looking at the ball game pana is playing, they are concentrating more of their R&D to the G/F series, rather than LX series. But come to think about it, do they really having nothing to supress their LX3 Flag ship? ... hai ... disappointed lor

shall look at review to decide.

the "new" sensor might be the deciding factor.

if the price not so much diff:then:dunno:

But not to PULL performance of LX3 down, in fact LX3 is really consider one of the premium pro-sumers already. Maybe it had reach it limitation of its rank i should say ....

any gadgets etc will reach this stage though ...
so .. .well .....

prosumers after using and familiarizing with the functions maybe can upgrae to dslr?

its not reach the limitation, maybe you can consider that so far non PnS really can beat pana Lx series hands down. So why bother to come up with more features. Save the best for last lor .. lolx .. its how to make business ...

I totally agree with you.
now i am trying to fix ISO MAX 400 liew ..
so when its like 12800 right ?? .... i dunno what to imagine

I usually shoot at ISO 100 or 200 max. If 12800, maybe can do some artistic shoot with B&W. :bsmilie:

Here are some of the highlights

Sensor Size: 1/1.63-inch

Effective Pixel: 10.1 Megapixels

Len: Leica DC Vario-Summicron 24-90mm F2.0 Len (In 35mm equiv.)

ISO Sensitivity: 80-12800

Motion Picture Recording HD: 1280*720pixels 60p

Optional: OVF/EVF

going the way of the G11....useless la.

I rather they give me a cheap Leica X1 equivalent with built in EVF.
