Who is interested in this grip at S$128 + 7% GST = S$137. The agent quoted me this price. I'll do mass order.

Thanks for organising this. Did you manage to contact Steven?

From the first email enquiry to the local agent, a lady - Kathryn , said she will update me & inform me of the price when the item is here... So now it is, & she has worked out the price...

Kat works for Steven if I am not wrong. Thanks for organising this. I was a little worried that those who have put their name in the list might have to wait even longer (testing over from the local authorities?) as I did not hear LE ordering the units and that they have not been shipped out. That is why I actually hand carried back 3 sets with BLM-1s for a few of the folks here.

They were snapped up pretty fast...

Great ! its finally here. I'm in for the grip. .. Hurrah ! Claps for those guys who assisted us in getting the grips.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hi all,

I chanced upon the distro's booth at COMEX today. I was pleasantly surprised to spot the E-500 and E-510 boxes in the display cabinet, so I asked for a look. During our chat, the guy explained to me the features, and even when so far as to step on the unit to demonstrate its robustness. He also mentioned that the types of batteries can be mixed, since Nikon, Canon and Olympus batteries all use the same voltage. However, I'll still stick with original Oly batteries for the moment. The unit is covered under 1 year local warranty by the distro, and that includes cracks or damage from dropping. Moreover, if the triggering is unresponsive, a refund is also promised. Besides the FBH, I also got myself the AA battery holder compartments.

The triggering mechanism (IR emitter at the bottom, prism sticker on the IR sensor):

Triggering works all the time. 2 pieces of prism stickers are provided. With the sticker on, the IR sensor can still detect IR signal from the front.

The small gripe about the purchase is that for the left compartment on the FBH, there seems to be some misalignment to the clips of the battery holders. After I slide the holder in, there is a very high chance that the clips cannot be locked. That doesn't happen on the right compartment. I'll probably bring it down tomorrow and see what can be done.

By the way, the distro office is directly above Olympus office, so it's quite convenient. :bsmilie:

Do any battery holders come with the grip or to I have to pay extra and select which type of battery i'll be using?

Comes default with 2 battery holders for the BLM-1. The following batteries are listed also, so they may be supported as well:

Canon BP-511A
Nikon EN-EL3a/3e
Minolta NP-400
Pentax D-LI50
Fujifilm NP-150
Sigma BP-21

I am looking at the IR prism location and wonder if your fingers might, at times, get in the way of firing. Is that something you have to be aware of?

Ron

So must pay extra for the AA batteries holders? Thought it is in the whole package.....as mentioned by the guys previously.

microcosm, BRO! that's why the damned triggering didn't work on the 500 the other day! :bsmilie:

Yeah... the E-330 model was a surprise for me anyway... LOL. But stickers? Errr....

The prisim for the E500 is a good fix but...

1) It's stuck on using adhesive... so how well and how long before it drops off is questionalble...
2) How about when you want to use the normal remote (remove the prism and replace it later?)
3) No half-shutter :nono:

The last point for me is the deal breaker.

But I must still highlight tha the grip is really very built, just that the way it was executed for the E500/E300 leaves much to be desired in terms of shutter triggering; a limitation on the part of the cameras not being able to support wired remotes :)

Just came back from Comex

The Ownuser grips are going for $198 for all models.
They also sell Velbon tripods there too...

Regs,
