Any luck with the 1/2 shuttle function? Any guys with the E500 grip happens to configure it?
Just got mine just now...
Only manage to play for a while only....
So far, right out of the box, 1/2 shutter cannot use.
Nothing is writen in the manual about configuring 1/2 shutter function...
The following was written in the manual...
Learning IR-Control Mode
Camera settings : You must select remote-control mode. Then you can use the shoot button of DX-FBH. You cannot focus with the shoot-button of DX-FBH. The camera can be auto focus on the subject first after operating with the shoot-button of DX-FBH.
This is the instruction to change or reset the settings... I don't quite understand though:dunno: Nothing is written on what other settings that can be configured to.
*You must have an olympus remote control.
- If you want to change or reset the settings, please follow steps 1-5
- Press the reset-button "a" for 5 secs and the LED "b" will be on.
- Point the Olympus remote control unit towards the LED "c" of DX-FBH and press the shutter release button on the remote control.
- When the LED 'b' will be still blinking, the setting is not successful. Please press again the shutter release button on the remote control.
- When the settings is successful, the LED "b" will be turn off
*If you have no concern to press the reset button "a", please press again and LED "b" will be turn off. Then your setting will not be deleted.
This is how the gripper shutter buttons work...
Once you press & release the shutter, camera will auto focus on image and trigger once image is in focus. From time you press shutter till camera capture image, it takes about 1-2secs. So there's a delay here.
Issue #1
It'll be tricky to take a pic if you want to recompose after the image is in focus.
Normally we'll 1/2 shutter to focus on subject and recompose the subject to wherever we want in FOV. We can take as much time to recompose when using the normal camera shutter button.
With the grip, you'll have to recompose as soon as the image is in focus and before the camera trigger. You'll only have about 1 sec or less to do this...
Issue #2
With this grip, C-AF cannot be used with the grip shutter buttons...
*In C-AF, u need to press and hold the shutter button*
So far, I can see these 2 issues.... Personally I have no concern abut these 2 issues.
If anyone has more to add or updates, pls share with us.
Thanx & Regs,
Khai
