This mountain out of a molehill could have been avoided by a very simple message to one of us (and not necessarily to the Administrators - it could have been to the Moderator of the Fujifilm or Gathering section) informing us that you are organising a gathering where members are to share the cost of the logistics and what-not.
Instead, for whatever reason, it has degenerated into a "Why this?" and "Why that?" and resulted in the unnecessary deregistration (at his own request) of a member.
We have always worked with members who want to do such activities, and have always "approved" members in the past who conducted such cost-shared outings and we will continue to do so. All we ask is that members message and inform us in advance so that we are not caught unawares, and if I trace back to the original message from Cheesecake, that is what he requested - for Jacob (or whoever else) to inform us in advance if there is to be a next meeting of such nature. That's it. Nothing else.
This measure was put in place (as noted by one of the posts) because some members have tried in the past to circumvent the subscription requirement for organising photoshoots.
Life is meant to be simple, lets not muddy the waters and make things more complicated. All this could have been avoided by a simple message, which takes less than a minute to write and send.
And a note to photobum (if you are reading this or get to hear from other members) : if you wish for your account to be reinstated (as I personally feel that its a shame that you requested for account to be deregistered over this small issue), please email me - darren_at_clubsnap.com.
