OMG! Look at the EM-1 aka the now official E-M1 Thread

is it ugly?

Any news of Olympus's reply for those cases so far?

Guys, is Olympus cheaper in Malaysia?
I just got a quote from a shop in KL and sounds too good to be true. EM1+12-40mm is almost 30% cheaper compared to SG.
Very excited yet cautious as I'll be in KL next week and will visit that shop.

cannot be that cheap, if SG is selling at $2750, KL cannot be selling at $1925 ($2750 x 0.7)
beware, that smells like Sim Lim sq trick, once you step into the shop, they will give you another story. Just my 2cents.

I've seen 3 pieces passing thru my hands dekitted from HK and they are all made in China. :)

thanks, so you bought it from HK or Singapore?
wonder should i avoid set imported from US and Europe.

I bought a boxed set (lens only) from Japan, which came as part of the recent global batch in Dec. Also MIC. Serial no was 5223xxx. Keith, would you know on your batch serial no?

All from HKG as I gave up finding any local shops willing to sell a BNIB dekitted. Little wonder why SG businesses deemed as really not as competitive as HKG

Hmm... To avoid or not avoid i can't say , bottomline is at least it's still covered under warranty since Oly honors it.

Mine is 5206xxx. The other 2 pieces I helped the bros here get should be around the same batch too.

Woah good ah, managed to get the box set :)

i went back to the mu-43 forum and found that one of the damaged lenses (out of the 3) had the serial 5207xxx or 5287xxx ( the photo wasn't that clear).

they're at page 41 now and its a mess of a discussion there. I'll wait for them to update on Olympus's remediation / reply and see how it goes. A lot of comments with 2 sides and no one the wiser. Definitely still going to have fun with my 12-40 :)

At a lunch gathering now and really doing a :

Photo shot --> transfer to iPhone --> edit using photoshop app --> whatsapp/ SMS to friends workflow.

I'm really pretty impressed especially when I did this for around 30 plus photos continuously, smooth and fast coming to the transfers.

No more really 'wait for me to go home and then share the photos' :)

I don't know whether this will be useful one day but yeap, just park it here:

Olympus 12-40 serial nos:

SNAG: 5223xxx
keithwee: 5206xxx
Timber Wolf: 5219xxx
microcosm: 5206xxx

its a 5207xxx or 5287xxx I'm not sure.

and.. again , in case this starts to freak pple out. There is no statement or evidence that the damaged lenses were associated with the production batch and there's no clear answer yet.

i'm sure we've pple here constantly looking at the mu-43 forums. Mind just updating if there's any news about the 3 cases mentioned there?

Should start another thread for this 😁

Mine is:
AC5209xxx

pretty close to the pictured broken one.
