This one was staring at me.

This one is ugly and looks like the minature male Asian Koel.

Sorry, don't know their names and still researching.

Top: Yellow rumped bulbul
Bottom: Starling ,they fly in flocks and are noisy at dusk when they roost (rest) on trees, not to mention pooing on cars.:)

These are the more common birds seen at Hdb housing estates however you might be lucky to spot a woodpecker, cockatoo, parakeet, sea eagle,flychatcher,owl,kingfisher,egret/heron,water fowl(peahen) near drains or other exotic migratory birds.

I thought starlings are lot smaller..these guys are like crow sizes.and are only spotted individually

Thank you for naming the birds. Is there any good local website where I can cross reference the birds with their names?

The black bird is indeed a Starling and they come in flocks. I shot a few of them in the same photo but not properly focused. They are also extremely noisy and busy.

Many thanks for the links. I like the Singapore Bird List as I can cross reference the birds against their names and not the other way round.

Bump for this thread again!

SMC Super Takumar 55/1.8
I just love this lens for its versatility and performance.
Cheap too considering that it was a 'cheap kit lens' on many Spotmatics in its day.

Nice. 50/55/58 FL used to be my favorite on FF and I used to have many, mostly very affordable.

Bought a used Minolta MD 300f4.5 IF and had no idea of how I will react to a brand of lens that I have zero experience with. It weighs only 710 gm and pretty good to handhold on my NEX.

Spent some time walking around Little India.

Stumbled upon a scene that reminds me of childhood times running around the back alleys.
I wonder how long more will places/scenes like this exist here.

Taken with a Pentax A50/1.7 converted for the 5D.
It does require a cutting off of the aperture level and removal of the lever guard.
So as a Pentax user, not entirely my flavor of thing to do to a lens.
Luckily, I had a fungus infested M50/2 lying around and the aperture lever mechanism fits the A50/1.7, so I used that for the conversion instead.
The lever guard is a simple unscrewing from the mount ring (30s job)

Nicezzzz....

This year I decided to do a 24-day round the South Island trip. For this trip, I brought my usual Leica R lenses, 19mm, 28mm, 35-70mm and 180mm adapted with alpha mounts. The only native alpha mount lens is the CZ 16-35. My Leica M8 came along as well, but I decided to try out the Sigma DP1M.

The South Island is an incredibly beautiful place. If you are a landscape photographer, it is a must visit place. Here are a few images captured with 19mm, 35-70mm and 180mm lenses.

Beautiful indeed.
Which camera did you use to mount the Leica R's?

Sony A850. I am looking at the A99, but at low ISO, I doubt I will see much difference. Prior to the A850, I was using the Leica DMR, an excellent digital back with some of the best digital colours.

Interesting.... A850, I've never looked at this option.

More nice photos too. :)

Beautiful landscapes again. How do you find the colours of DP1m compare to A850+Leica lenses?

The DP1M/2M as many have said have its quirks. But given the right conditions, good light and low ISO, the image quality is outstanding. Sigma's raw converter, SPP is a pain to use. I used it to convert to tiif, carry out WB, highlight recovery and minor colour adjustments. Then I use ACR and CS6 for final post processing. The colours remind me of slides, especially Kodachrome 64. The colours are bright, saturated and have excellent tonal range. However, at times the colours can be too saturated and lacking subtlety.. I am still learning to understand the nature of the Foveon colours. The A850/Leica R lenses combo still excels in revealing subtle tones. I think this is the strength of the Leica lenses. The resolution is unbelieveable. I think it has more resolution than the A850. The files are so sharp, I need not apply any USM in the output. I will do some printing to see how the files look.

I will be posting some of these photos in the Sigma forum.
