Hey, got back to you on the other thread. but for the benefit of the others, the conversion is simple and totally reversible. will give full metering capabilities on the Dx00 and Dx range of cameras.
Anw, another lens to intro: Carl Zeiss T* 45mm f/2.8 Pancake for Contax/Yashica System.
my apologies for it taking so long, i ve actually had the lens for close to a month now, bu been busy so couldnt update here. it started with me wanting a smaller alternative tho my 50 1.2. the 50 1.8 nikkor was good, but was still a lil big. turned to the nikkor 45 2.8P but its like $700-800 so finally came to this lens instead.
mounted on my nikomat FTN:
and just a size comparison next to the nikkor 50 1.8 and 1.2
when mounted on my d700, the lens barely protrudes past the grip of the camera, its really small, kind of like shooting without a lens on. the focus throw is long. about 180º from ∞ to CFD which is about 2ce as much as the nikkors. this threw me off at first, but im starting to get used to it. the focus ring and aperture rings are small and close together so it also takes some getting used to. the focus is smooth and precise, a pleasure to use.
here're some sample pictures so far:
while not biting sharp, the contrast is there and there's a very different feel from the nikkors. its contrasty, but not overly so, colours seem very rounded. it does skin tones pretty well and the lens hardly ever flares, and i ve had no problems with LOCAs either. all in all a very pleasant lens to use. it my 'kit lens' which sits on the camera when its in my bag now.
im currently processing some more pictures and will put them up when they re ready =)
